Overview of the Job
The Sustainability Manager - Governance, Reporting and Digital Capabilities leads environmental data governance, reporting, and compliance across the key sustainability pillars (water, climate, and packaging) within JSK OU.
Reporting to the Director, Technical Sustainability, the role ensures alignment with Coca-Cola requirements (KORE), regulatory standards, and corporate sustainability goals.
The position also plays a key role in advancing digital capabilities across the Technical and QSE community, driving data efficiency, automation, and improved decision-making.
This role requires a solid technical background in environmental disciplines, combined with digital proficiency and the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders in a complex, evolving environment.
What You'll Do For Us
Environmental Data Governance and Compliance
- Lead the environmental data governance framework and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements, including engagement with the Corporate Team.
- Serve as the primary franchise contact to monitor and drive performance of data collection processes across bottlers.
- Oversee and delegate data collection and governance processes to local teams to meet TCCC and internal audit (GAO, CAD) requirements.
- Ensure timely communication and implementation of new data governance and reporting requirements across stakeholders.
- Support manufacturing plants during internal audits and data verification processes to ensure accuracy across Japan and South Korea, as required.
- Prepare mandatory regulatory reports in accordance with Japan local regulations (e.g., Energy Saving Act, Food Control Act).
- Validate renewable electricity procurement, renewable energy usage, and broader decarbonization initiatives across manufacturing and the value chain.
- Analyze bottler decarbonization roadmaps, ensuring alignment with baselines, targets, and progress tracking.

Environmental Management through KORE and Corporate Goals
- Ensure all manufacturing plants have their Source Water Vulnerability Assessments (SVA) and Water Management Plans (WMP) updated and validated as per KORE requirements.
- Conduct Source Water validations with external specialists for newly installed wells.
- Conduct Co-packer validations in conjunction with other QSE functions.
- Support the Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability (PACS) department in the technical validation of Water Replenishment data.
- Provide technical support for the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Certification work for selected plants in Japan, as applicable.
- Work in conjunction with the Sustainability Senior Manager - Innovation and Project Management to closely monitor environmental KPIs (water use efficiency in manufacturing, carbon emissions across the three scopes, use of recycled materials, etc.) to manage our progress against the Operating Unit Goals and Global priorities.
- Validate Supplier-Specific Emission Factors (SSEF) and collaborate with suppliers to advance Scope 3 decarbonization.
- Promote the use of Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) methodologies to inform future product development in cooperation with other team members.
Digital Ambassadorship
- Act as a digital ambassador within the Technical community, supporting digital upskilling and capability building.
- Develop and implement digital solutions (e.g., data platform integration, automated reporting, AI-assisted data management) to enhance efficiency and data reliability, as applicable.
- Contribute to Corporate-led digital initiatives and innovation programs.
Other Responsibilities
- Actively participate in global environmental workstreams organized by the Global Environmental Council (GEC).
Qualifications & Requirements
- University/bachelor's degree in Science, Technology or Engineering.
- Excellent technical understanding of environment and energy management.
- At least 3+ years of experience in the Sustainability field at corporate sustainability capacity, consultant or energy developer.
- Comfortable with novel digital tools and willingness to 'go beyond' in the area.
- Passion for Sustainability and its intersection with business.
- Attentive to new trends in the industry and requirements in the Climate/Water work spectrum.
- Communication skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty when establishing new processes and workflows.
- Advanced English and Japanese.
