Reports to: Senior Director, Strategic Growth
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Role Purpose
The Director, Strategic Growth plays a critical role within the Strategy function, leading the development and activation of priority growth strategies for the Operating Unit.
Reporting to the Senior Director, this role translates enterprise and OU ambition into clear, actionable growth opportunities, supports strategic prioritization, and drives cross-functional alignment on where to play and how to win.
The Director acts as a trusted strategic partner to senior business leaders-shaping choices, elevating strategic thinking, and enabling effective strategy-to-execution translation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead priority growth strategies
Own and drive selected growth domains (e.g., category, channel, portfolio, whitespace, long-term bets).
Translate macro trends, insights, and competitive intelligence into clear strategic implications and choices.
Support strategic prioritization & choice-making
Frame and analyze strategic options, pressure-test assumptions, and provide recommendations on trade-offs.
Ensure resource and capability alignment for the most critical growth opportunities.
Support strategy execution discipline
Monitor progress of priority initiatives, track key milestones and KPIs, and identify risks and opportunities.
Drive timely recommendations to accelerate, pivot, or reinforce actions.
Partner cross-functionally for integrated planning
Collaborate with Finance, Category, Channel, RGM, and Bottlers to convert strategy into targets, investments, and capability roadmaps.
Support the annual business planning (ABP) and long-range planning (LRP) cycles.
Facilitate strategic dialogue & alignment
Enable structured, evidence-based discussions that drive clarity and organizational alignment.
Support senior leaders in aligning priorities across functions and bottling partners.
Provide thought leadership on complex challenges
Bring structure, insight, and strategic framing to ambiguous business issues.
Support scenario planning, risk assessments, and opportunity shaping.
* Develop talent and ways of working
Coach and guide team members or project squads on strategic thinking, synthesis, and problem solving.
Contribute to building future capability for the Strategic Growth team.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Experience
- 10+ years in strategy, growth strategy, management consulting, commercial planning, or business transformation.
- Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives.
- Strong track record shaping strategic choices and supporting execution governance.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.
