Job Description:
TheVice-President, Finance, Strategic Planning and Performance Management, TD Securities (TDS)reports to Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer, TD Securities. The role is instrumental in driving the TD Securities (TDS) strategy function that is responsible for leading the strategic planning process, including shaping the short- and medium-term ambition and priorities for the wholesale bank.
Vice Presidents (VP) at TD Bank Financial Group are strategic, responsible, and accountable members of the Bank's executive leadership team. Collectively, these roles contribute significantly to the overall reputation of TD as an excellent investment, a highly customer focused organization, a top employer, and an exemplary corporate citizen. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The Vice-President, Finance, Strategic Planning and Performance Management oversees a team that provides strategic guidance to the TDS business segment, supporting short-, medium-, and long-term growth objectives for the dealer. This role manages the strategic planning process and performance to ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and risk parameters.
The general accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Drive the strategic planning process for our global franchise and act as an advisor regarding the growth and transformation of the TD Securities business. The role will help shape the strategy and strategic initiatives with a focus on strategic development and long-term business growth.
- Working closely with the CEO and CFO of TD Securities on a range of strategy initiatives which includes aspirations as it relates to the growth of the Global TD Securities business, the role will oversee strategic planning and leading strategic initiatives for medium term growth plan and key strategic initiatives laid out at Investor day for the TDS segment.
- Responsible for establishing and reviewing key strategic priorities and translating them into a comprehensive strategic plan and monitoring the execution of the strategic plan.
- Identity, analyze and monitor issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity including key strategic risks.
- Conduct assessments of industry and competitive landscape, identify key industry trends impacting the business, market share analysis, and opportunities for growth.
- Play an advisory role in helping to execute the wholesale banking strategy by framing clear strategic initiatives, soliciting perspectives of the Dealer Leadership Team.
- Build and foster critical stakeholder relationships across TD Securities
- Work closely with TDS business leaders to understand their issues, create strategies for change and collaborate on recommendations.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of strategy sessions and workshops and collaborate with teams across TDs and outside the organization to help in the development of content and reports for the Dealer Leadership Team
Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations
- Undergraduate degree required with relevant post-graduate credentials a definite asset (MBA, CFA)
Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience
- Over 10 years of capital markets consulting at a leading firm
- A consulting executive / top-level professional with a broad range of financial management and strategic advisory experience with extensive understanding of the business and key financial drivers
- Advanced level of expertise and financial acumen to provide insight on strategy development and be a strategic partner to the business on a broad range of financial matters
- Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations
- Ability to break down and solve business problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
- Balanced approach, ability to stay resilient under pressure
- The ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders, influence and align others
- Proven ability to manage a diverse group of professionals
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with business and senior management at all levels.
- Excellent analytical skills in assessing finance/market and business issues and exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
