Job Description:

The SBB Credit Policy Manager role leverages a combination of lender acumen, analytics and strong verbal and written communication skills to improve and advance the full suite of credit products in Small Business Banking (SBB). The key objectives of the position are to develop enhancements to new and existing policies, provide guidance to partners and balance the profitability of SBB credit, with the risk appetite of the Bank. The role fits within the larger objective of Fund My Business (FMB) journey, as Business Banking works to achieve Our Quest to become the number one business bank in Canada.

Job Description/Accountabilities:

As SBB Credit Policy Manager within FMB the successful candidate will:

  • Review and renew existing credit policies, to ensure:

    • Appropriate alignment with growth objectives, recommending improvements where appropriate;
    • Suitable risk performance; including PCL and Write-Off analysis and trending
    • Relevance in terms of overall SBB distribution objectives/scorecard
  • Recommend new credit policy/process improvements where appropriate, aligned with broader FMB objectives.
  • Work to obtain consensus support for recommendations from relevant partner groups, management and senior executives via strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts to assist with the effective completion of this role; working with key stakeholders and partners including from Retail Risk Management (RRM), Small Business Credit Centre (SBCC), Small Business Lending Advisory Group (SBLAG), etc.
  • Represent FMB and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on SBB policy queries/questions on individual requests and in a broader organizational capacity.
  • Adapt to challenges/opportunities as presented to contribute both directly and indirectly to:

    • Achieving Business Banking credit volume and revenue targets
    • Supporting Business Banking product, policy and strategy initiatives and launches, including presenting on Leadership and National calls.
    • Maintaining awareness and tracking of relevant risk trends and credit performance metrics

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to establish and leverage working relationships across diverse groups within the Bank.
  • Familiarity with data sets in order to extract actionable insights and generate recommendations.
  • Prior Business Banking or Credit Risk Management experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Reasonable skills to work with a variety of other PC applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrates a 'sense of urgency' where required.
  • Independently organized, with the ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous tasks and deliverables.
  • Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing environment, requiring ongoing re-evaluation of priorities and management of multiple concurrent deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Business Banking and/or Small Business Banking credit products and processes is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management concepts and or Risk/Credit experience is considered an asset.
