Job Description:

The Insider Threat Management Senior Lead Insider Threat Management Investigator works within the Insider Threat Management Investigation team and reports to the Associate Vice-President, Insider Threat Management Investigations.

The Senior Lead Insider Threat Management Investigator leads thematic, complex (i.e., regulatory/ public private partnerships) investigative projects and independently conducts the most complex and sensitive investigations through analysis of evidence, digital forensics, and interviews. This role is national in scope and will collaborates with Human Resources, Legal, and other line of business partners to provide investigative outcomes, operational gaps, and any trends identified. Engagement with external law enforcement agencies as well as providing testimony in court are requirements.

As a lead you will ensure that all investigations are conducted with professionalism, timeliness and adherence to standards. You will also represent the organization in legal proceedings as required, will lead multiple priorities, manage resource application and promote knowledge sharing and cross team communication. The incumbent will be expected to travel across Canada on short notice as required in the performance of assigned duties.

The incumbent will provide mentorship and training ensuring compliance with company, legal, and regulatory requirements. This role will drive a culture of excellence and accountability and continuous development through sharing performance feedback and ensure performance management practices are consistently applied. They will provide support to the executive leadership team focused on quality investigative output of the teams. A strong understanding of risk management and control frameworks are essential with commitment to aligning all activities to the company's risk appetite.

On occasion and on a case by case basis, the incumbent will be assigned to Oversee/manage a team of specialized professionals in the analysis and investigation of a significant event at TD to minimize overall risks to the Bank, its customers and its employees.

Key accountabilities include:

Customer

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the business governance and control function and play a key role in the development and implementation of risk strategies in support of the overall business strategy
  • Participate in the intake of applicable regulation, assessment of impact to the business line, and the comprehensive mapping of associated controls to rules and regulations.
  • Review end-to-end processes and controls and "connect the dots" across issues and control deficiencies across various BUs in order to increase standardization of solutions, processes and controls
  • Provide direction to complex, wide ranging enterprise or cross-function / business projects as a SME, identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations and participate in designing, testing, and implementation of solutions
  • Act as lead for area of specialization with industry, enterprise, and business awareness; recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying issues and opportunities and recommending action to senior management in the governance and control space

  • Ensure programs / policies / practices are well managed, meets business needs / priorities, and complies with internal / external requirements
  • Exercise discretion in managing communication / correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality
  • Lead research projects; support the development / delivery of materials and presentations to management or broader audience
  • Conduct analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs, policies, or practices
  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities across businesses and functions
  • Manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank Code of Conduct

  • Participate as a member of the team, support a positive work environment and ensure timely communication
  • Provide leadership as a SME and participate in knowledge transfer within the team / business unit
  • Keep current on emerging trends / developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques

Breadth & Depth

  • Recognized as leading expert within the company and requires significant in-depth and/or breadth of business knowledge and expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas
  • Senior specialist providing advisory services to executives, business segment leaders and governs the requirements for own work
  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise function's or business segment's overarching strategy in leading program design, policy formulation or operating standards within one or more areas of expertise
  • Anticipates emerging business trends and regulatory / risk issues as a basis for recommending large-scale product, technical, functional or operations improvements
  • Serves as a source of expert advice to senior management in field of specialty
  • Advises on execution strategy and leads the development and deployment of functional programs or initiatives within their own field or across multiple specialties
  • Works within general policies and industry guidelines

Experience and/or Education

  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Deep industry and business knowledge and expertise on risk and control functions surrounding financial crimes and insider threats
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
