GTB Financial Institutions ("FIs") provides Canadian payment clearing and settlement services to banks globally who fall within our strategy and risk appetite. As an integral team member in FI coverage, you will have responsibility for managing client relationship profitability, provide exceptional client servicing, act as first line of defense for risk and internal compliance, as well as support a broader TDS wide client relationship management mandate. Effective and impactful FI coverage means delivering one-TD to our FI clients and prospects to developing 'partner' banks. Internally within TDS, one-TD means working in close collaboration with partners in Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and TD's Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) to achieve strategic outcomes.

Job Scope

The Managing Director ("MD"), Treasury Solutions - Financial Institutions, Senior Relationship Manager ("SRM"), GTB, is part of the broader EMEA FI SRM team, will be based in London, and reports jointly to the Head of GTB EMEA & APAC (which is part of Corporate and Investment Banking) and the Head of Senior Relationship Coverage (which is part of Global Markets). The Senior Relationship Management ("SRM") role sits within GTB Financial Institutions team, providing critical relationship coverage for Banks across the globe. As MD in the SRM EMEA team, you have responsibility for regional and individual client strategy, and growing/maintaining a portfolio of top Europe, Middle East & Africa head-quartered FI names. The role is responsible for originating new business primarily within GTB and optimizing client value and wallet. The role sits at the intersection of many international partnerships and works in conjunction with the following teams:

GTB FI coverage teams for North America and Asia GTB Trade and Working Capital GTB Corporate Cash Management TDS Global Markets TDS Corporate and Investment Banking Other areas of the broader TD Bank Group, as applicable, include TD Bank's Treasury and Balance Sheet Management team.

Key accountabilities for the role:

  • As part of the EMEA FI team, work closely with Head of GTB EMEA & APAC and Global Head of Financial Institutions, GTB, to deliver an overall EMEA FI portfolio strategy to optimize client revenue and wallet share within bank's risk framework.
  • Work with business leads within GTB and across TD Securities, other GTB SRMs/RMs, to drive the overall TD franchise value to new and existing clientele.
  • Good understanding of Global Market & Debt Capital Markets products and how they complement the GTB FI business strategy.
  • Provide clients with superior relationship management and deepen existing client relationships to ensure more touch points‎ at senior/C-suite levels.
  • Manage and build the FI portfolio to maximize business opportunities and growth for TD Bank, providing product agnostic coverage by creating, developing and originating business leads.
  • In-depth understanding of the following Global Transaction Banking business is a plus, in particular:
    • Canadian Treasury and Commercial Payments, Continuous Linked Settlement, Deposit accounts
    • Trade Finance products (Import/Export Letter of credit, Trade Loans, Standby LCs, re-issuances)
    • Good understanding of liquidity management for FI operating cash accounts
  • Stakeholder management - Promote GTB team franchise with internal and external partners collaborating closely with product and delivery to maximise outcomes.
  • A good understanding of the regulatory framework/requirements within which the business operates (FCA, wider regulatory frameworks including EU, international and legal framework).
  • Sound market knowledge and awareness of wider economic, political and market environment (domestic and international) for TD and the wider financial services industry.
  • Manage key operational and other inherent risks associated with the portfolio.
  • Ability to identify, assess and supervise control and mitigate risks.
  • Develop core talents within GTB team by leading, developing and empowering team members as required to meet the needs of the business and personal development goals.
  • Manage your portfolio to include a broader strategic view for the benefit of the wider Corporate and Investment Banking ("CIB") and TD franchise, striving to achieve efficient outcomes for TD and our clients.

Attributes

The candidate should possess the following attributes:

  • Strong business acumen, strategic perspective and client relationship management skills.
  • Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in capital markets, strategy, and/or relationship management.
  • Proven expertise in relationship management, strategic execution, and complex stakeholder coordination in matrixed environments; strong influence leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and developing talent, with the ability to lead through influence rather than span of control.
  • Exceptional judgment, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills under ambiguity, including reconciling differing departmental strategies and timelines.
  • Superior executive communication skills, with the ability to craft and deliver clear, enterprise-first narratives to senior internal and external audiences across cultures and geographies.
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA, CFA, or similar advanced credential preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including WORD, POWERPOINT and EXCEL.

This role is considered a certified under the senior management and certification regime, either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing significant harm to customers.
