Reporting to the Senior Manager, TD Insurance Finance, the Finance Analyst's responsibilities will be twofold: be a key contributor to our monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting, and annual planning process; and to provide value-added analysis and reporting to our business partners on an ad-hoc basis.

The successful candidate will partner with Finance and business stakeholders to deliver accurate financial information, analyze results and key business drivers, and support reporting and process improvements. The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, along with a commitment to quality, controls, and continuous improvement.

TD Insurance Finance supports the development and achievement of financial results by providing proactive analysis, expertise and advice to our partners relating to all financial matters. TD Insurance is composed of two distinct businesses: General Insurance and Life & Health.

Job Requirements

Business Partnering & Financial Analysis

  • Support monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting, and annual planning activities through timely financial analysis and reporting.
  • Analyze results and identify key drivers, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare clear financial commentary, presentations, and insights to support decision-making.
  • Partner with Finance and business teams to respond to requests and provide value-added analysis and recommendations.
  • Assist in evaluating business initiatives, investment proposals, and strategic opportunities through financial analysis and business case support.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of dashboards, reporting tools, and management information to support decision-making.

Reporting, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and validate financial reporting outputs through appropriate controls, reconciliations, and quality assurance processes.
  • Investigate variances, data issues, and reporting discrepancies, identifying root causes and supporting resolution with stakeholders.
  • Maintain data integrity, process documentation, and compliance with internal controls, governance, accounting, audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting, forecasting, planning, and analytical processes through automation, standardization, and simplification.
  • Leverage reporting tools and technology to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations that strengthen Finance processes, controls, and stakeholder experience.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Build effective relationships with Finance partners and business stakeholders through responsive communication and reliable execution.
  • Communicate analysis, risks, recommendations, and key insights clearly to diverse audiences, tailoring messages appropriately based on stakeholder needs.
  • Coordinate information requests and proactively communicate timelines, risks, status updates, dependencies, and issue resolution.

  • Participate in knowledge sharing, cross-training, and team initiatives that support broader team effectiveness.
  • Continuously build business, technical, and financial expertise to improve performance and support career development.
  • Demonstrate accountability, ownership, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement in all deliverables.

Skills & Qualifications

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation or progress towards a professional accounting designation is considered an asset.
  • 3+ years of relevant finance, accounting, planning, forecasting, reporting, or analytical experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of management-level reporting and presentations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with financial reporting and analytical tools such as Hyperion, EMRS, OBI, EPM, Tableau, Alteryx, or similar tools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of TD Insurance or the insurance industry is an asset.
