Job Description:
The Mainframe Engineering Manager role is a hands-on position for the right individual who has a passion for teaching, for guiding, and for expanding the knowledge on Mainframe principles and best practices across the Credit Platform. The products and applications owned include Credit Origination, Security, Offers, and Credit Bureau Applications and Mortgage, Loans, and Credit Cards. Knowledge of these applications and how they are interconnected through the online transactions, Mailbox delivery, MQ and other means is an asset.
We are a Production Support team and this role is the first point of contact for after-hours escalations for all Mal-Codes within the Credit Platform on Mainframe. Scheduling will include on call production support where availability is set at 24/7 basis.
The Engineering manager's role is responsible for the day-to-day activities for the group of both on-shore and off-shore full time and contractor employees and will include assisting with training new to mainframe employees while at the same time encouraging those with greater skillsets to mentor and grow the team around them.
Hands on experience is required with IMSDC, IMSDB, DB2, Cobol, DSFSORT, IBM Tools and Utilities as well as the DB2 Utilities
Will be required to utilize the debugging features on the system; identify both online and batch process and have the ability to identify areas for efficiencies and opportunities to improve the systems .
Open and effective communication is required to provide updates during incidents and lead during incident calls quickly and confidently.
Education and experience
- University or post-graduate degree
- Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering)
- 7+ years relevant experience
