Department Overview:

The Credit Solutions Group is focused on helping to create and implement complex structured financial solutions providing superior risk adjusted after-tax rewards for Ultra High Net Worth and High Net Worth individuals, families, and business leaders. The department brings value through custom loan structures that help private Banking clients build net worth, protect what matters, implement tax-efficient strategies and leave a legacy.

Job Description:

The target market includes UHNW and HNW individuals and their families, successful business entrepreneurs and professionals.

The group has direct accountability and responsibility to assist Private Banking Market Managers and Private Bankers across the country in credit structures.

  • The Credit Manager position reports to the Senior Manager, Credit Solutions Group.
  • Work in a team environment and is responsible for assessing, structuring and underwriting new business, as well as managing the credit risk and the annual renewal process of an assigned portfolio while delivering a legendary client and partner experience.
  • Act as the primary credit contact and liaison with partners to respond and facilitate credit within the assigned market region.
  • Collaborate in a deal team environment with the Regional Director, National Director, Lead Relationship Manager and other client relationship team members / advisors as needed.
  • Responsible for credit productivity and quality of their portfolio, ensuring credit renewals are completed in a timely manner and within expiry thresholds, and that all monitoring and control is completed accurately and on time.
  • The position is supported by shared access to a Client Services Officer.

FINANCIAL

  • Maximize profitability based on volume growth, loan fees, pricing which includes the principles of Business Banking's RAROC Model, through high quality client interactions on an existing book of business.
  • Focus on achieving and supporting the group's targets.
  • Contribute to developing solutions for new and existing clients based on in-depth understanding of client needs.
  • Partner with, educate and coach, Market Managers, Private Bankers and other Lead Relationship Managers in fulfilling all business opportunities and objectives.

BUSINESS OPERATIONS

  • Actively manages the credit structuring process, and is responsible for fulfilling the underwriting, funding and compliance review of credits.
  • Credit applications for presentation to Wealth Credit & Market Risk Management (WCMR) include formal assessment of each deal, detailed supporting analysis, appropriate financial modeling and due diligence performed.
  • Responsible for managing an assigned portfolio within established standard guidelines, ensuring the quality and accuracy of all client and partner inquiries and interactions by the team.
  • Adherence to both professional practices and standards and TD Bank Group processes & controls.
  • Responsible for staying current and informed about all updated operational and credit risk guidelines.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank and industry codes of conduct and with securities laws and regulations.
  • Understand and apply bank/branch operating policies and procedures.
  • Act as liaison with outside counsel and advisors.

CLIENT

  • Lead and model exceptional service at every partner and client interaction.
  • Ensure partner and client requests are handled professionally and in a timely and efficient manner, bringing in senior management and other business partners when necessary.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the partner and client experience.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and in a team environment and must have sound knowledge of commercial and personal credit, Credit Risk Management procedures and principles, Wealth products and solutions, with comprehensive knowledge of bank administrative systems. In addition, the ideal candidate should have working knowledge and experience involving the following areas:

  • Credit Analysis
  • Financial Modeling
  • Intermediate accounting and finance.
  • Risk management theory and practices.
  • Investment and treasury products
  • Operational process expertise
  • Security documentation.
  • Retail banking knowledge
  • Having worked in risk or business banking is considered an asset.

Accreditation Requirements:

Post-Secondary degree, (Business Degree/MBA, CFA, Accounting Designation considered an asset)
