Job Description:

The Product Control Function is a team of professionals with deep product, business and controlling expertise covering the end-to-end accountability for financial results in support of TD Securities. The team will be responsible for maintaining, executing, and providing oversight of the financial controls for all TDS business lines. The team will also provide financial analysis and advice to key control partners and the TDS front office.

The AVP role is the Head of Product Control for Global Markets in TD Securities, reports to the TD Securities Controller. This role is accountable for ensuring accurate and timely reporting for daily P&L and balance sheet, and monthly income statement and balance sheet for TD Securities - Global Markets business lines. This includes Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Commodities, Repo and Structured Products. This role will act as the main go-to person for the Head of Global Markets and all relevant business heads, and the key advisor to the Front Office, Information Technology, Risk, Finance, Operations, and other control functions and key stakeholders, providing insight and analysis on the financial results

Specific activities would include the following:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high performing team of about 80 Global Markets product control professionals.
  • Timely and accurate Daily P&L reporting to each business line within Global Markets, including daily review and control of Volcker Metrics.
  • Accountable for completeness and accuracy for the Global Markets Income Statements and Balance Sheet results
  • Responsible for Analytical Review of Global Markets' performance results with detailed explanations of result variances.
  • Accountable for appropriate design and operating effectiveness for key controls associated with P&L and Balance Sheet processes.
  • Accountable for timely approval of new businesses/products and technology changes impacting Global Market's Finance processes and controls.
  • Steer stakeholders on business, process, and technology for complex and strategic business and P&L platform changes.
  • Identify opportunities and steer strategic product control initiatives to improve/streamline processes.
  • Collaborate closely with all members of the Product Control team including TDS Valuation Control team, CIB Product Control and Risk & Control teams, providing guidance and cross training when required.
  • Proactively monitor all operational issues including EUC/model governance and attestation, issue management, risk event management, and RCSA assessments.
  • Timely remediation on internal and external findings.
  • Liaise with internal/external auditors and regulators during examinations.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Analytical and ability to review and challenge performance results based on product, valuation, and industry knowledge.
  • Skilled relationship manager with developed management and collaboration skills to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and influence.
  • Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, productivity, innovation, creativity, analysis, and advice.
  • Demonstrate resiliency in the face of new problems and/or challenges while adapting quickly to change.
  • Adhere to relevant compliance, professional standards, and regulatory and bank policies.

Specific Educational and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • University degree with a professional accounting/finance designation (i.e., CPA, CFA, CMA) or an MBA is an asset.
  • 15+ years' experience in Global Markets Product Control within a large financial services organization.
  • Demonstrated deep expertise in business and product knowledge for Global Markets, and practical experience in Volcker reporting.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and controlling mindset, experiences in sox control processes a plus.
  • People Management experience leading large teams.
