Job Details - What You'll Do
We are looking for a passionate Software Development Engineer in Test who can design and deliver innovative test automation solutions. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, focused on driving simpler and faster outcomes, and demonstrates a 'remarkably human' approach while consistently achieving performance objectives, regulatory compliance, and productivity targets. As part of the job role, you will be performing
- Be knowledgeable and adhere to established quality engineering practices/procedures, internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
- Ensure decisions, risks and lessons learned are identified, clearly documented and enhancements are accordingly implemented
- Understand relationships between work processes and the business and ensure awareness of costs related to own work
- Deliver effective and efficient solutions that meet key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, within budget, and adhering to QE and quality standards
- Comply with and support well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and project management disciplines - including creation of project documentation of system requirements, estimates of scope and cost
- Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
- Protect the interests of the organization - identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary
- Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

Agile Delivery Support
- Ensure quality is built early (shift-left) in the SDLC
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies: Daily stand-ups, Sprint planning, Backlog refinement and Retrospectives
- Collaborate with Developers, Business Analysts and Product Owners
Test Planning & Execution
- Support test planning, design, and execution for assigned features or user stories
- Develop and execute: In-Sprint, Regression, Integration / API validation (as applicable) and E2E Test Automation
- Validate business requirements and ensure end-to-end test coverage
UI, API and E2E Test Automation solution
- Develop test automation using Java, Selenium, Typescript, Playwright, API automation using RestAssured, JIRA, and JTMF for Test Management.
- Execute automated test suites and support maintenance of scripts
- Follow automation-first approach to improve efficiency and regression coverage
Artificial Intelligence in Test Automation and Capability development:
- Pioneer AI tool adoption i.e., GitHub Copilot to accelerate Test Automation, and Innovative solution development that drives faster and quality testing solutions.
Defect Management & Reporting:
- Identify, log, track, and validate defects
- Work with development teams to analyze root cause and verify fixes
- Provide timely updates on:
- Test progress
- Risks and blockers
Continuous Testing & CI/CD
- Support execution of test suites in CI/CD pipelines using GiutHub Actions
- Assist in maintaining test environments and data readiness
- Contribute to continuous testing practices across development stages

Breadth & Depth
- Basic working knowledge of specific domain or engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes, and procedures
- Basic knowledge of coding practices, testing, and debugging to develop and maintain resilient automated test scripts
- Basic debugging and problem-solving skills; investigates and analyzes potential solutions to problems
- Perform low to moderately complex testing automation under general supervision
- Quickly learn in scope TD applications, systems, best practices, business / organization, Bank standards
- Develop and responsible for reliable execution of automated tests based on requirements and/or specifications; codes, tests own code and debugs to create resilient test automation scripts
- Use existing procedures to solve routine problems; makes limited exceptions

Where You'll Work
This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring an initial minimum of two days per week in office, with flexibility to increase to up to four days as needed. The work location is 160 Front Street West, Toronto, ON, M5J 2L7.
Experience and/or Education
- BS degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline; or equivalent practical experience
- Less than 2 years of Test Automation experience or work experience as Co-op in Quality Engineering on UI and API Test Automation and Software Engineering who is passion in testing to deliver quality product in to production.
