GTB serves TDS clients, who are the largest and most sophisticated within the bank and possess a comprehensive and complex set of business needs. Transaction Banking is a technology-powered product set that is deeply ingrained into the financial and operating systems of clients.
GTB partners closely with other TDS groups across Corporate & Investment Banking as well as Global Markets, serving all industry coverage areas.
The Network Management team is accountable for the clearing network, including accounts (Nostros) and relationships, on behalf of the Toronto-Dominion Bank Group ("TD"). These accounts and relationships provide critically important clearing services to the entire TD franchise, including but not limited to wholesale and treasury payments, Continuous Linked Settlements ("CLS"), commercial payments, foreign drafts and cash letters. Working with correspondent banks from across the world and stakeholders across TD, Network Management enables TD to transact in foreign markets and execute its global strategy.
Job Description/Accountabilities
The role involves maintaining and optimizing nostro accounts, ensuring operational efficiency, managing counterparty risk, and supporting strategic initiatives to enhance TD's correspondent network. The Associate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure seamless cross-border payments, treasury settlements and liquidity management.
Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the day-to-day management of nostro accounts, including account openings, closures, and maintenance.
- Act as a key liaison between internal business units and external banking partners, addressing inquiries and service-related issues or disruptions, ensuring effective communication with impacted teams.
- Assist in negotiating and reviewing service agreements, fee structures, and performance benchmarks with counterparties.
- Monitor the financial health and operational performance of correspondents, escalating concerns as needed.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards in network management activities.
- Assist in the gathering of AML/KYC requirements related to correspondent relationships.
- Identify opportunities to optimize cost efficiency and service quality.
- Support projects related to account rationalization, infrastructure enhancements, and technology adoption.
- Prepare reports and presentations on network performance, fee analysis, and market trends for senior management.
- Provide insights on market developments, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years relevant industry experience in wholesale banking, treasury operations or correspondent banking.
- Preference will be given to those with existing TD experience.
- Familiarity with SWIFT, cross-border payments, and treasury/securities settlement.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Advanced PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio).
- Strong quantitative and qualitative business research and analysis skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high aptitude for creative thinking.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to instinctively engage others to achieve positive business outcomes and make things happen with positive influence.
- Strong desire to learn and ability to adapt to a fast-paced changing work environment.
