- Support to Senior Tax Manager in delivery of Tax Function to SGS
- Indirect Tax Compliance responsibility such IPI, PIS, COFINS, ICMS, ICMS-ST, ISS, PRODEPE and the new CBS and IBS) and ancillary obligations (such as SEF I AND II, E-DOC, EFD-ICMS/IPI, EFD-CONTRIBUTIONS, GIA, GIA-ST, DCTF, DIRF)
- Review calculations and ensure accurate tax accounting and compliance with the applicable legislation and the special regimes (ie., Sao Paulo, Pernambuco and Mina Gerais)
- Lead the Tax Reform Project and coordinate with IT and consultants and the local team in Brazil
- Maintaining and communicating knowledge of past, present and potential future Brazilian indirect tax laws, regulations, rulings, procedures and court decisions that impact SGS business
- Lead the relationship with consultants regarding direct taxation, accounting and reporting to the group and the Transfer Pricing Team
- Ad hoc project leadership and participation on tax matters
- Principal contact with Tax Authorities and SGS's representative in tax audits
- Responsible for teaming with the business to ensure business initiatives are executed in a tax efficient and tax compliant manner
- Responsible for management and development of the tax team in Brazil
- Responsible for Indirect Tax Compliance process including calculations, tax returns, forecasts, payments, accounting and cash optimisation
- Support the Tax Department regarding direct taxes needs and reporting
- Support Transfer Pricing group regarding the application of policies and documentation obligations
- Provide timely advice to the business on daily matters and with their relationships with the clients and decision support to the leadership team
- Continuous review of the tax position in the assigned countries, to achieve cash tax savings and effective tax rate benefits in a compliant manner
- Support to the business and project participation and leadership of ad hoc projects/initiatives regarding all tax aspects
- Responsible for Tax Authority inspections and develops productive relationships with the Tax Authorities
- Management and development of the current Tax Analyst in Sao Paulo
Skills
- Deep technical knowledge of Brazilian indirect taxation
- Excellent tax accounting knowledge including IFRS
- Effective communication skills and negotiation capabilities
- Excellent analysis skills and rational and critical mindset
- PC skills - advanced knowledge Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Effective presentation skills
- Fluent Brazilian and English, able to communicate in writing/verbally
- University Degree, preferable in Accounting, Business, Law or Finance
- Experience in tax area of 6+ years (in multinational companies would be a plus)
- Experience with SAP, Tax One and Mastersaf DFE
