Senior Regulatory Specialist

• This position provides broad exposure to marketing/business teams, product development, legal, public affairs, customer service, operations, finance, sourcing, and other internal and external partners, providing R&D support on cross functional teams for formulated Ready to Drink and Full Bottle Spirit products.
This position reports to the Senior Group Manager of Global Regulatory, within the Global Research & Development Organization. This role will lead key initiatives with primary focus on Ready-To-Drink products, and is accountable to deliver Regulatory and technical compliance responsibilities, programs / projects, functional based goals, and implementation of regulations for the designated region or business group.
Role Responsibilities
• Accountable for delivery of technical regulatory requirements, from ingredients to finished liquid per brand and launch market requirements.
• Responsible to autonomously manage, plan work, and advance solutions when required to deliver all work types, meeting priorities and goals.
• The person in this role will leverage their strong regulatory foundation, courage, and problem-solving skills to advance product / project requirements, with primary focus on Ready-To-Drink products.
• Provide day to day support and solutions for existing market products including supplier ingredient assessments, customer service support, in market commercialization needs, and consumer inquiries.
• Effective communication and presentation skills to enable project advancement, informing and collaboration to cross functional partners and senior leaders.
• Represent Suntory Global Spirits interests from technical regulatory perspectives in interactions and engagements with local authorities and trade associations.
• Be an advocate, role model, and champion to build community and culture to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Provides education and mentorship for peers and cross functional teams to understand and growth in regulation knowledge.
• Owns personal growth, development, continuous learning mindset, and advancing personal career ambition.
• Responsible to build knowledge of future, new and regulation changes and assesses project work against them, as applicable.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in science or technical field preferred.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English (speak, read, write). Knowledge of Japanese a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of Chinese regulations and labelling requirements as applied to food/beverage essential. Knowledge of regulations in alcoholic drinks desired. Previous experience interacting with authorities and trade associations a plus.
• Ideal candidate has 5 years minimum work experience in regulatory technical compliance field within the food and / or beverage / alcohol industry. Experience in alcohol beverages, and / or carbonated beverages a plus.
• Team player with cooperative, collaborative style supported by good listening and partnering skills. Culturally sensitive, with ability to work in a global multicultural cross functional organization, requiring ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones to accommodate global responsibilities.
• Strong regulatory integrity mindset leveraging existing skills and knowledge to drive the business, finding innovative approaches and solutions, and education of self and others.
• Independent and self-driven, with strong analytical skills, attention to details, and resourceful approach to advance projects and goals.

• Ability to travel globally to partner in project work with internal and external clients, as well as support implementation at Suntory Global Spirits facilities - travel approx. 10-30%
• Ability to work in office at least ~60% of time, balancing work from home, as business needs require.
