Location/Hours: Hybrid – 1-2 days/week in office

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Part-Time Math Curriculum Developer is responsible for: 1. designing, developing, and refining math curriculum that is research based, culturally responsive, aligned to traditional high school math courses (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus) and supports students’ quantitative and problem-solving skill development; and 2. supporting the part-time math instructor hiring process and conducting instructor observations. This role works under the direction of the Senior Manager of Math Curriculum and collaborates with instructors, teaching and learning managers, and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a skilled curriculum writer and math pedagogue with classroom experience who is adept at project management and thrives on creativity, collaboration, and forward-thinking design.

Curriculum Design and Development (50%)
- Develop and revise high-quality math curriculum for grades 9–12 for a variety of settings (synchronous and asynchronous, in-person and remote), including lesson plans, classwork, assignments, assessments, and instructional resources.
- Ensure curriculum aligns with Common Core State Standards, state and national benchmarks, and organizational objectives.
- Create multimedia content (scripts and instructional videos) to support curriculum delivery and student engagement.
- Stay current with trends and research in curriculum design and secondary/post-secondary education.
- Complete curriculum writing projects on schedule and with attention to detail.
- Engage in regular check-ins with the Senior Manager of Math Curriculum, and revise curriculum materials based on feedback.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Teaching and Instructional Community Support (30%)
- Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning team to:
- Support part-time instructor hiring during the fall, spring and summer semesters across all sites by observing demo lessons, conducting interviews, and providing hiring recommendations based on high school math content knowledge and pedagogy
- Conduct instructor observations during Saturday Academy and Summer Academy (both in-person at our New York City programming sites and online over zoom); provide actionable feedback to instructors, the Teaching & Learning team, and the Math team.
- Act as a substitute math teacher on Saturdays for online or in-person programming as needed.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Cross-Functional and Organizational Collaboration (20%)
- Work closely with the Math team to analyze assessment, survey, and evaluation data to guide revisions.
- Collaborate with other curriculum teams (Advisory and ELA) to ensure coherence and integration across academic programs.
- Participate in weekly math team meetings and collaborative meetings with internal stakeholders to strengthen curriculum design and delivery.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience teaching high school math and/or designing high school math curriculum.
- Strong high school math content knowledge and understanding of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
- Experience coaching teachers or providing instructional resources is a plus.
Competencies & Skills
- Proficiency in educational technology, digital curriculum delivery, and use of math-specific languages and tools (e.g. Desmos Graphing Calculator and Computational Layer programming, LaTeX, MathML, etc.)
- Strong project management skills with ability to meet deadlines across multiple priorities.
- Highly adaptable, solutions-oriented, and detail-focused.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with a commitment to team growth.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth.
- Technically proficient in standard workplace applications like Zoom, Box, and Google Drive.
