Become a Transmission Line Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll support all voltage levels from 12kV through 500kV with an immediate focus on distribution and sub-transmission. Varying responsibilities include designing and modeling Transmission and Distribution lines using PLSCADD software to analyze long spans, transition spans, perform clearance checks, perform line studies, structure spotting and new line designs under guidance of supporting team. Work across Southern California during field and construction site visits, collaborate with various organizations and groups to plan, design and execute projects to strengthen grid reliability and long-term system performance. Responsibilities
- Performs inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification/ trouble shooting, and overall improvements
- Ensures system event assessments and RCA are performed for equipment failures and implements corrective actions, confirming proper mitigation plans are in place
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and design plans related to projects and analysis of increasing scope and complexity
- Conducts independent engineering work, receiving guidance on the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Performs power system modeling and analyses utilizing software tools and applications; stays informed of technology advancements, market trends, and relevant guidelines and standards related to energy technology
- Ensures the performance of day to day preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment and ensure continued operation according to required standards including
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) quality and environmental and reliability standards
- Helps ensure infrastructures supporting processes are validated/qualified throughout their life cycle
- Develops the engineering facility design, including but not limited to electrical system design, such as sizing, creating one-line diagrams, and selecting equipment
- Assists in the development of new technology and standards strategy and the implementation of strategies into business operations to improve power system funcionality and quality of service to customers
- Act as project sponsors with some technical assistance when responding to technical questions requiring project modification to move projects through their lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
- Two or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
- Understanding of California General Order 95, NESC, and other applicable codes and resources.
- PLS-CADD knowledge and experience with designing and analyzing transmission lines.
- Spica-Calc knowledge and experience
- Ability to review transmission line drawings, data interface with suppliers, other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.
- Motivated, driven, and detailed oriented ready to collaborate with various teams.
Additional Information
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- The primary work location for this position is Pomona, CA.
- Position will require up to 40% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
