THE ROLE
The focus of the SFS Marketing Manager is to help define, shape and support the brand positioning of SFS in a way that generates awareness – and, ultimately, drives leads for our services. The end goal is to support and promote lending globally.
The successful candidate will reinforce SFS’s place in the broader art, collectible car, and luxury market eco-systems via partnerships, sponsorship, and events. He or she will develop and implement strategies to seamlessly integrate our marketing with that of the Fine Art and Luxury departments, and with the broader company.
This role will utilize all of Sotheby’s available channels, including catalogues, website, social media, email, video, paid advertising, and in-person activations. Our Marketing Manager will work on cross-functional teams to coordinate the execution of marketing campaigns. Key partners will include the Press team, as well as other Marketing functions such as Events, Digital Marketing, Editorial, Content and Design.
This role will sit within the larger, global Integrated Marketing team, but will partner extremely closely with the SFS team and corporate communications. The candidate will need to be comfortable working both within a team and independently on projects and campaigns.
An unwavering attention to detail, rigor in execution, fluency in data reporting, and a proven ability to think creatively, strategically, and analytically about marketing campaigns are fundamental to the success of this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and execute 360° multi-platform marketing programs for Sotheby’s Financial Services (and related service departments as appropriate) to increase awareness, reinforce positioning, drive new client acquisition, and further engage the existing client base.
- Develop and execute marketing programs for local markets to increase SFS’s visibility, impact and reach in the regions.
- Drive the execution of all multi-platform business getting campaigns, working closely with the SFS team and local regions to coordinate and optimize all growth initiatives.
- Create and maintain on-going competitive analysis, identifying key trends in the art-lending ecosystem.
- Oversee and work collaboratively with colleagues in Press, Content, Events and Digital Marketing in the planning, local execution, and strategic promotion of marketing campaigns from start to finish. To include live/virtual events, collateral, and digital marketing, following global guidelines and program parameters. Ensure deadlines are met, and budgets are adhered to.
- Provide ad hoc project support as needed.
- Provide the relevant stakeholders with regular campaign reporting and post-campaign analysis to establish effectiveness and highlight learnings for future campaigns.
- Brief our Creative Studio on marketing elements requiring design and storytelling, such as advertising, collateral, content, and assets.
- Ensure resource allocation for each campaign is within budget and reviewed monthly with Marketing and Finance Director/Manager.
- Track and update marketing activity calendar, project timelines, media plans and email/communication schedule.
- Strive for efficiencies, improvements and learnings that will help maximize Sotheby’s ROI by working with various internal departments to track, measure and evaluate the impact of marketing programs.
- Maintain a highly organized and extensive archive and record of each program.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- A college degree, preferably in Marketing or Finance
- 9+ years of work experience in a marketing agency and/or a marketing department within a wealth management institution.
- Background in finance or art and/or luxury goods industry with an understanding of luxury brand building amongst HNWI a plus
- Experience in planning and executing marketing campaigns
- A solid understanding of KPIs and campaign performance metrics across online marketing channels
- A balance of strategic and creative thinking with strong analytical skills
- An unwavering attention to detail and uncompromising excellent standards, plus a willingness to constantly strive for improvement
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Solution-oriented mindset with strong process and project management skills
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment as well as work independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Comfort working to tight deadlines on several different and varied projects at one time
- Motivation, organization, proactivity, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness
- Proficient use of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint presentation development, Excel modeling and web analytics
- Additional languages a plus
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $165,000-$215,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
