Primary Function
The SQD Product Specialist is responsible for the promotion, sales, & coordination of SQD products to our customers in assigned Echo markets, including but not limited to Arc-flash studies, drive startups, Powerlogic metering upgrades, and project takeoffs.
Essential Functions
Task
Sales Planning & Market Analysis
- Conducts market analysis to identify sales opportunities, identifying key contacts and valuable insight into the operations of potential customers.
- Completes sales call and expense reports on a weekly basis and files monthly auto expense report in accordance with company procedure.
- Prepares an annual sales forecast to help analyze market conditions and/or changes in assigned territory for maximum productivity and sales growth.
- Reports competitive conditions and feedback from customers to the management team.
Sales Initiation
- Prospects and cultivates new business opportunities
- Makes personal sales calls at customer establishments on a regular basis, seeking new opportunities and new customer leads. Engages appropriate Echo team members when appropriate (branch manager, sales associates, etc.).
- Introduces, promotes & demonstrates new services, customer resources, and programs to customer base.
- Coordinates secured customer orders with appropriate Inside Sales Staff for order entry, tracking & fulfilment. Remains engaged with process as needed to expedite & troubleshoot backorders and other related concerns that may arise.
- Actively manages account base and new opportunities to maximize sales volume and gross profit margins.
- Executes sales efforts in a timely, ethical and professional manner, assuring a favorable impression of self and the company; includes the maintenance of a clean and uncluttered vehicle.
Project Specs, Quotations & Execution
- Reads, reviews, interprets, follows schematics and blueprints to understand and define project scope and solution offering; engages the appropriate internal & SQD resources to prepare complete and competitive quotes.
- Follows-up on all generated quotations to assure the customer is being serviced and to document the outcome of the proposed solution.
- Follows and meets project schedules and deadlines.
- Coordinates solidified projects with appropriate service providers and follows up on outcomes for other potential service/product opportunities.
Customer Service
- Quickly finds common ground and solve problems.
- Easily gain trust and support of others.
- Maintains an accurate follow-up system for actively tracking promises. made to customers and expediting projects to assure that services and materials are completed and delivered as scheduled.
- Provides customer with appropriate product information to ensure the customer is equipped with the knowledge needed to make an informed purchase.
- Resolves customer concerns.
Services & Product
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of services & products.
- Research products & services to provide customers with optimal solutions.
- Attends product training classes to develop superior product knowledge to apply to customer projects and applications.
- Understands and cultivates knowledge on core industrial products and their respective applications; including appropriate product substitutes.
Communication & Team Orientation
- Informs customers of all relevant company policies. Reports customer comments to management.
- Clearly, timely and respectfully communicates with customers, engineers, fellow associates, management team and manufacturing partners to ensure a professional experience.
- Develops an effective and productive working relationship with branch associates, sales associates and managers.
- Supports other branches in their efforts to secure and facilitate customer orders.
- Encourages collaboration and is viewed as a team player.
Safety
- Works safely with and around 480V, 120V, 24V, and pressurized systems, assuring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized.
- Completes required safety training and maintains a hazard free workspace.
- Assists with the reporting of accidents in a timely manner.

- Understands, follows and adheres to customer's safety guidelines when providing solutions.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Travels to jobsites, if needed and when required.
- Performs other duties as instructed or required to successfully complete the job.
Necessary Qualifications
- Two-year associate degree or equivalent technical degree, as determined by Echo Electric.
- Possess a valid driver's license & good driving history.
- Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, especially verbally.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including an ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work well alone and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated capability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships and work in a team environment.
- Strong customer service orientation to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Ability to use, read and interrupt measuring devices such as a tape measure.
- Ability to use a computer, operating software and wiring/device marking systems.
- Demonstrated motivation, willingness to learn and complete quality work.
- Ability to travel with overnight stays during the week.
Desirable Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as an electrician, technician, assembler, or equivalent education from a technical school.
- 3-5 years' experience in the services industry.
- Understands NEC and UL regulations and standards required for position.
- Knowledge and understanding of services product offerings.
Physical Ability Requirements
- Ability to operate a vehicle.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, crouch and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone.
- Ability to bend, climb, push, and pull, including the ability to maneuver at heights and in tight or small places.
- Ability to safely negotiate walking through construction sites while carrying or otherwise transporting work-related materials.
- Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 50 lbs. and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 50 lbs.
