Echo Group Inc. has an opening for a Generator field repair technician to be based out of our Carrol/Fort Dodge, IA Location. The field technician position involves startup, troubleshooting, repair & maintenance of standby generators and related equipment
Duties
We are looking for associates who:
- Generator field position reports to the generator division manager.
- Provide generator division manager and inside service dept. with information needed to allow the service department to assist with final project services such as: startup, testing, routine maintenance service, and repair work.
- Perform repairs, startups, troubleshooting & maintenance on standby generator systems.
- Provide as needed updates to generator team. Make recommended / required repairs known to customer base.
- Continued Education time to increase knowledge of product line and general knowledge of the power generation industry.
- Submit required paperwork and reports such as expense reports, quotes, and job status updates in a timely manner.
- Follow up on projects as needed to help ensure job is delivered, installed and started up in line with manufactures guidelines.
- Maintain good customer relations.
- Perform other duties as instructed.
- Participate in onsite project reviews, open houses, and trade shows as needed.
- Help inform customers of new products and changes to product offering.
- Work closely with outside sales staff and Echo generator division team members.

What you bring:
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for equipment repair.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including generator repair.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment safely as part of the job requirements.
- Experience in vehicle maintenance to ensure operational readiness for fieldwork.
- Familiarity with schematics to assist in troubleshooting and repair processes.
- Sales skills are a plus for promoting additional services or products to clients.
- Previous experience as a service technician or mechanic is highly desirable.
