KTVL has an immediate opening for an energetic and creative Executive Producer to oversee news content for overall fairness, balance and accuracy.

The ideal candidate will produce daily newscasts and oversee production of newscasts and special programming. You will work closely with the other producers and reporters on daily selection and coverage. As a newsroom leader, the expectation is that the Executive Producer will lead by example. The ideal candidate has a passion for news, a strong background in television news production, and a vision for how to provide viewers with fresh, interesting, relevant content every day. We expect our EP's to find cool new ways of incorporating digital content into our daily coverage. Duties include providing input and constructive oversight for our team on story selection and presentation, reviewing reporter scripts for creativity and accuracy, and coaching the team on owning coverage of breaking news, telling compelling stories, implementing strategic initiatives, managing measurement metrics, showcasing weather, and creating an energetic newscast.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce shows/script reviews
  • Manage and train other producers
  • Special projects
  • Gathering news affecting the community
  • Preparing story items for presentation in the newscasts
  • Posting on web and social media platforms
  • Planning and overseeing continuity into upcoming newscasts
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Four-year degree in journalism or communications preferred
  • Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives
  • Great people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating
A successful candidate will have had at least 4 years of experience in broadcast journalism as a producer, or equivalent experience.
