The role
We're looking for a hands-on, self-directed Senior Tax and GL Accountant to serve as our internal tax expert. Because our tax landscape isn't overly complex, we partner with external firms for much of the heavy lifting. Your core focus will be managing our tax compliance, owning annual tax provisioning process, and acting as the primary quality-assurance reviewer for our outsourced partners. When tax season isn't at its peak, you'll roll up your sleeves to collaborate with our accounting team on general ledger operations. Where you'll work
This is a full-time, hybrid role based at our Irving, Texas, headquarters. The schedule requires three days per week in the office and two days remote. Wednesday is always an in-office day. The other two in-office days are flexible and can be chosen based on your preference. Standard hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility for personal needs.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinate with, provide data to, and quality-check the deliverables of our external tax consulting firms.
- Learn, manage, and eventually own our annual tax provisioning process (ASC 740).
- Support overall tax compliance, including estimated tax payments, sales tax processes, and 1099 compliance.
- Spend roughly 20% of your time assisting the GL team with close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and ad-hoc requests.
- Identify and communicate tax risks and savings opportunities to senior management while streamlining internal GL and tax processes.
What you'll need
- 4-6 years of experience, ideally starting in public accounting. We strongly prefer candidates from mid-sized or local accounting firms who have handled diverse clients and worn multiple hats.
- Direct experience with tax compliance and tax provisioning (ASC 740 is a must).
- A willingness to tackle general ledger work and familiarity with general accounting principles.
- A self-starter mentality. You need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own deadlines, and context-switching between tax and GL tasks.
- Bonus points: A Bachelor's degree in accounting and experience with NetSuite, Avalara or managing outsourced tax preparers.
