What's the role

You will be responsible for leading the Insights strategy, plan and implementation for Shell Mobility North America, helping drive a customer‑centric culture and ensuring the business has the necessary deep customer understanding and external insights to deliver customer‑driven commercial opportunities, in addition to driving the annual Strategic Marketing Planning process, This is a regional role that supports B2B and B2C Marketing teams across Shell Mobility US & Canada. It requires a deep understanding of the Mobility business, the industry and macro- and micro-environment to enable data‑driven and customer‑centric decision-making.

What you'll be doing

The Marketing Insights and Planning Lead is responsible for two key areas:

Customer Insights Planning

  • Develop and implement the Insights strategy and serve as a strategic insights SME and partner to marketing teams across multiple business areas, including fuels, loyalty programs, digital, convenience retail, and B2B segments
  • Lead end-to-end insights projects, including advising on recommended research methodologies, select research partners, and manage project budgets.
  • Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative research studies
  • Consolidate primary and secondary data to deliver meaningful insights on customer behaviors, market trends, brand performance, and competitive dynamics
  • Manage key ongoing research programs, such as brand tracking, campaign performance tracking, concept testing, segmentation work, and message testing
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights and actionable recommendations
  • Ensure best‑practice research standards across all North America projects, working collaboratively with Global Insights teams
  • Maintain strong methodological rigor and stay informed on the latest innovations in marketing research and analytics

Strategic Marketing Planning
  • Lead the end‑to‑end annual marketing planning process for the US and Canada
  • Work closely with marketing, brand, communications, and global stakeholders to align strategy, timelines, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain a clear, annual "Plan-on-a-Page" that outlines strategic priorities for the region
  • Support strategic discussions with agency partners and internal teams to ensure integrated planning
  • Manage planning logistics, timelines, and coordination with external partners
  • Support development of business cases and post‑investment evaluations to guide decision making
  • Drive planning‑related performance programs and ensure continuous process improvement


What You'll Bring
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Research, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing research and Insights strategy delivery, ideally in both a research agency and an CPG/FMCG company, having worked on quantitative and qualitative projects
  • Experience and track record of success in a customer insights team within a commercial marketing organization, ideally in a global environment
  • Knowledge of market research techniques and a track record of implementation and innovation that has supported business outcomes, for example: increased speed of delivery, reduced cost, improved accuracy
  • Experience using insight to create customer-led marketing strategies that drive change in the business and inform strategic marketing planning activities
  • Ability to translate insights into actionable business value, including forecasting, market sizing, identifying opportunities, and conducting competitor and market analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and blend multiple datasets, such as customized research, continuous tracking data, sales/loyalty data, and syndicated data, into clear, concise business opportunities
  • Ability to craft insights into simple and compelling stories that generate action
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
  • Strong commercial and negotiating skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with strong statistical capabilities
  • Experience in brand building and marketing strategy development


What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
