Warehouse Associate III
1st shift: 6:00a-2:30 p M-F with OT as needed during the week and on weekends
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this role is monitoring and coordinating warehouse material Andon requests from acknowledgment through resolution. The role must be highly proficient in LDS, symmetry, SAP and related warehouse systems to validate requests, identify material status and location, assign or coordinate the required response, maintain accurate timestamps and status updates, and close andon calls only after resolution is confirmed. The current goals are acknowledgment within 5 minutes and resolution within 20 minutes, with future-state goals of 1-minute acknowledgment and 5-minute resolution. The Andon Attendant identifies trends and recurring failures, escalates risks before they affect production, and maintains clear communication among warehouse and production teams. As a Tech III employee, this position must also be cross-trained and flexible enough to perform other warehouse activities assigned within the Tech III level or below and support structured on-the-job training for newly hired or transferred employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the warehouse Andons queue continuously as the primary function of the role, maintaining reliable coverage and responding promptly to new material, shortage, delivery, or warehouse-support requests.
- Acknowledge each Andon request in the approved system within the current 5-minute goal and work toward the next-state goal of acknowledgment within 1 minute.
- Review the request details and validate the material number, quantity, production area, line or order, point of use, requester, priority, and stated issue before coordinating the response.
- Use SAP, LDS, symmetry and other approved systems to research inventory availability, storage location and bin, material status, open movements, replenishment activity, staging status, and recent transactions.
- Determine the appropriate response path and coordinate with replenishment, water spiders, kitting, receiving, put-away, cycle count, production, upstream & downstream, quality, or warehouse leadership as required.
- Assign or communicate requests with complete and accurate information, including the material number, quantity, source and destination, urgency, production impact, checks already completed, and expected follow-up.
- Maintain ownership of each open Andon request until resolution or confirmed handoff; monitor aging, follow up on delays, update the system status, and keep affected teams informed.
- Resolve or coordinate resolution within the current 20-minute goal and support continuous improvement toward the next-state goal of resolution within 5 minutes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for response and resolution times.
- Confirm that the requested material or support has reached the correct location and that any required SAP transaction is complete before closing the Andon request; do not close calls solely to meet timing targets.
- Document acknowledgment, actions, handoffs, escalation, resolution, and closure accurately in the approved system to preserve traceability and support performance reporting.
- Prioritize Andon requests based on safety, production impact, material criticality, aging, and established escalation rules; identify competing priorities and request leadership direction when needed.
- Escalate unavailable material, unresolved inventory discrepancies, blocked or restricted stock, system failures, repeat calls, capacity constraints, and requests at risk of missing the response goal.
- Review Andon data and recurring issues to identify trends, repeat material shortages, response bottlenecks, transaction failures, and improvement opportunities; communicate findings to warehouse leadership.
- Conduct on-the-job training for newly hired or transferred employees using approved standard work; demonstrate system use and response expectations, observe practice, correct inaccurate execution, and communicate qualification gaps to leadership.
- Maintain cross-training and demonstrated proficiency in other applicable Tech III and lower-level warehouse processes.
- Perform other Tech III-or-below warehouse operations as assigned for staffing coverage, workload, or business needs, including replenishment, picking, kitting, receiving, put-away, staging, shipping, cycle-count support, material handling, and related SAP or scanner transactions when trained and authorized.
- Escalate immediately when material cannot be located, the request is at risk of exceeding the response goal, a discrepancy requires another function to correct, system access is unavailable, or the condition creates risk to safety, quality, inventory accuracy, or production continuity.
