What will you do?
As part of a Services Business Unit, the role of tender engineer is to:
- Support the Sales Team by ensuring we understand the customers commercial and technical requirements and are able to submit a technically compliant offer in line with the customers technical requirements and scope of supply as detailed in their Request for Quotation, or otherwise noted in our commercial and/or technical offers by deviations, exclusions or clarifications. It is also the responsibility of the Tendering team to ensure that any offer submitted to our customer is commercially competitive while staying at or above the required margin levels from the business and has approval from the required Approver and SME's dependent on the value and complexity of the project or service being offered.
- Support the Operations Team to ensure that the scope of supply being offered at tender stage is within their ability to deliver from a scope of supply, resource and competence point of view and costed accordingly. It is also the responsibility of the Tendering team to, identify, remove and mitigate risk where possible and/or allow a sufficient risk provision for risks that can not be removed or mitigated at the tender stage to enable the Operations team to successfully deliver the project and maintain the as tendered margin.
Job Specific Requirements:
- Close collaboration with the opportunity leader to understand the opportunity requirement / Scope / Specification / Needs and Develop Customer request into a Schneider Electric's offer by developing a proposal that is in line with the Client requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
- Provide tendering expertise in Maintenance, Repair & Modernisation for existing installed base and customers for Power Services specifically Low Voltage & Medium Voltage Electrical Distribution Equipment.
- Ensure compliance to internal policies and process requirements.
- Prepare a detailed cost analysis based on market and/or bid competitiveness and value proposition.
- Coordinate & work with Factories, Internal Group and External Group to build up a proper service offer responding to specific RFQ requirements.
- Lead and be responsible for tender approval review with SME and Business Unit Approvers
- Provide accurate and approved tender to opportunity leader within SLA.
- Support Sales team by participating in bid clarification.
- Communicate and coordinate with all internal stakeholders such as Sales, Finance, Operation, Engineering, purchasing to obtain the optimized offer solution.
- Ensure complete and proper hand over of won opportunity to Services Operation team.
- Ensure good collaboration across all the company (Cross BUs, Cross Teams)
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Previous working experience preferably in Sales, Tendering or Project Management of LV & MV Electrical Distribution Equipment.
- Knowledge or experience of installation, testing, commissioning and maintaining LV & MV Electrical Distribution Equipment used in different market segments and environments.
- Able to understand basic electrical network, SLD's, BOM's etc. to capture Asset information in order to prepare proposal for works.
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent would be desirable but not essential
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc..)
- Fluent in both spoken and written English,
- Team player who can work effectively with customers and colleagues
