This position is for a Tender Manager based in Singapore, responsible for Leads and drives in-country teams who are accountable for providing consistent bid and solution proposals to customers for large and complex projects.

This position is responsible in coordinating the bid strategy together with the Sales Account Managers as well as other Schneider Electric business units and developing a culture of assessing & mitigating commercial risk while maximizing our profitability. Manages complex customer requirements and offers solutions which add value for our customers.
Familiar in use of advanced sales and tendering techniques and in leveraging subject matter expert advice from the legal, financial and technical areas to develop and compile price offer quotation packages to clients. The candidate should have a good knowledge of finance and able to develop financial projections and simulation to assess margin range and impact during the bid stage. In addition, the candidate is expected to provide recommendations to the bid team on where to optimize the bid package to enhance competitiveness and winnability of offer.
The candidate should have good knowledge of the various contract terms and conditions being used in Singapore for this role particularly in the building construction sector. The candidate reviews and negotiates (with Schneider's legal support team) customer contract terms and condition to ensure company financial policies are met and limit the financial exposure of the company in these projects. The candidate must be process oriented and meticulous in his/her attention to details in work.
This position is expected to work with business leaders, sales managers, vendors, procurement, finance, legal and solution team members on a day to day basis and to provide status update to management.
What will you do?
Tender Processes
- Establish and enforce tendering framework with guidelines to track key tender bid processes, milestones and deliverables from the bid team.
- Work with internal governance team members to review contract terms and conditions as well as subject matter experts opinions on solution and delivery risks mitigation approach.
- Develop costing tables and conduct analysis on the financial aspects and impact of the bid.
- Collate and compile costing from various internal and external parties or other business units.
- Initiate approval process for bid submission and update stakeholders on the aspect of the bid as needed
Contract Review and Negotiations
- Conduct preliminary review of the client terms and condition of contract during the bid stage and follow-up with the SMEs review of the contract (Financial, risk management, legal, technical).
- Lead commercial and contract terms and conditions negotiation on a case to case basis.
Training and Mentoring
- Conduct refresher training to sales and solution team on commercial and tender process from time to time.
- Mentor and guide junior tender managers from time to time.
Risk Assessment
- Conduct commercial risk assessment on bids.
- Coordinate and direct the solution and project management team in the technical solution and delivery risk assessment of bids.

Key Skills and Competencies
- Excellent customer handling and relationship skills as well as conflict resolution skills.
- Proven skills in the areas of tender management, contract review and negotiations.
- Strong communicator - both written and verbal in technical and non-technical environment.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Demonstrate methodical work organization and adherence to process.
- Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrates effective time management skills.
- Excellent business ethics and integrity.
- Strong financial acumen and aptitude to work with a quantitative (gross margin) and qualitative (strategic etc.) targets. Posses past experience in cost avoidance, saving, able to counter-propose customer with the best efficient & economical solutions in consideration of constraints.
- Demonstrates flexibility in operational style to meet the requirements or multi-culture position.
- Proven experience in Multi-location/Enterprise Customer Engagement process.
- Good understanding of customer's Mission Critical Infrastructure, Power (MV & LV), cooling (incudling chillers) and associated needs and issues of customers operating in a multi-location environment.
- Strong ability in developing relationships and communicating with senior business executives and business stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Power point presentations.
Background and Experience
- At least 5-10 years in commercial and tender management in global multi-national companies or large construction companies.
- At least 2-3 years of the above experience involving large/multinational/multiregional customers.
- Experience working in a cross cultural and cross entity environment are essential
- Ability to work independently
- Experience as a team leader will be an advantage.
- Multilingual ability and cross-cultural experience is highly desirable.
- Familiar with common contracts used in the construction industry (SIA, BCA, FIDIC) would be an added advantage.
Education
- Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- Industry certification in contract management is advantageous
- Certification and some technical training covering Data Centre design practices and operations, Generator Systems, MV & LV Systems, Large UPS Systems, Chiller Systems, would be added advantage.
