The Role: Technical Leader System Integration

What will you do?

As part of a project team, act as the leader of the technical content of the project, and be the single point of contact regarding all project technical topics. Manage the technical project team and master technical risks during either tender or execution phase, or both.

The Technical Leader is primarily responsible for the solution delivery that includes integration of the Electrical Monitoring and Control System (EMCS). Depending on the project, this may also include elements of process automation when EMCS and process control are integrated. In other cases, the EMCS will interface with separate systems such as:

  • Process Control System (PCS)
  • Building Management System (BMS)
  • Fire and Gas System (FGS)
  • Safety Instrumented System (SIS)

The Technical Leader is not responsible for the detailed architecture of these other systems but must ensure robust interface management between EMCS and each of them. This includes:
  • Understanding how EMCS connects to and exchanges data with other systems.
  • Validating integration points and ensuring compatibility.
  • Coordinating with system owners to ensure a cohesive and reliable overall solution.

During tender phase,
  • Establish customer needs (expressed or not) and seek for alternative/aggressive or low-cost technical solution.
  • Liaise with Architects or Experts in order to optimize & secure the overall design of the customized solution.
  • Optimize and strongly challenge different contributors and quotation centers to be more competitive in the bid. Propose the best split of scope between stakeholders.

During execution phase ,
  • Make sure customer technical requirements are fulfilled (in terms of performance, quality, costs and time), in compliance with the contract, and based on the Architecture & Technical specifications defined during the tendering phase;
  • Lead a technical team composed of "customer project technical designers and engineers", and ensure technical coordination of all projects stakeholders: Customers, other Schneider Electric entities, third parties, contractors
  • Lead the technical coordination of all project's stakeholders:. Manage technical risks and interfaces between the project team stakeholders and the customer; and get final customer approval of the overall technical solution designed and delivered.
  • Manage all technical aspects of a complex solution (architecture, systems...): design, integration, testing, FAT, installation, commissioning, warranty etc.,
  • Make sure project technical team delivers on time and within the planned technical budget

Technical team coordination & management:
  • Lead & approve basic and detailed design of all technical aspects of an integrated solution, in line with customer and contract requirements (technical performance);
  • Make sure the project technical team delivers according to the project planning;
  • Monitor technical costs, make sure budget for the technical part is under control;
  • Coordinate all technical implementation activities done at factories or supplier premises and testing facilities until project closure

Technical coordination of project stakeholders:
  • Work in close collaboration with PM & other technical designers and engineers who take care of part of the technical scope;
  • Identifies whether specific expertise support is needed and coordinate the expertise actions if any;
  • Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of the sub-contracted parts of the project, in strong coordination with procurement team;
  • Act as a single point of contact for all project stakeholders regarding the technical content of the project; and ensure technical coordination among the project team

Design & Implementation : according to her/his field of knowledge,
  • Perform, review some design and specification activities, by leveraging Schneider Electric portfolio of products & systems in an optimized manner, in order to maximize profitability and limit technical risks; May perform some implementation/test activities (testing, FAT, etc).

Risk & Opportunity management, Change management, Alert:
  • Identify any potential changes versus contract or already-agreed design;
  • Work closely with PM to specify the changes and their implications for Schneider Electric (including cost impact eveluation), until getting a variation order;
  • Alert PM of any substancial issue that could affect the project performance or customer satisfaction.

Customer interactions:
  • Lead technical discussions and clarifications with customer;
  • Act as the key and trusty contact person for all technical topics related to the project.

Quality process, Methods, Tools:
  • Support PM to ensure full compliance with Schneider-Electric processes (especially CPP & TDP), and with quality instructions, safety requirements and governance principles;
  • Lead the technical team to correct any technical deviations or quality issues occurring during project execution

Community of practices & Coaching:
  • Take part of Technical Leaders' Community of Practice within her/his Execution Center, or globally within Technical Excellence Community network;
  • Identify, get, formalize, share and promote lessons learned and best practices;
  • Act as role model and/or coach junior technical engineers and designers;
  • Be connected with LoBs and stay tuned on the last technical evolutions of equipment & systems (in her/his field of engineering, acting then as a referent in the Community).


Who will you report to?

Within the Digital System Integration organization growing & leveraging profitable solutions & services you will join a position of Senior Technical Leader. This position requires to work for projects and tenders in segments like Defense, Nuclear, O&G, Datacenter and Mining and Microgrid based on the market demand.

This position reports to Global Customer Project Operations, responsible for developing and securing complex technical international projects.

This specific position is open to start working in Nuclear and Defence segment.

The senior Technical Leader will be part of an international team dedicated automation systems integration projects.

What qualifications will make you successful?
  • at least 5 years leading technical projectsor 5 years as Solution Application Engineer for large and international Customer projects
  • Fluent in English (written & spoken)
  • at least 5 years in a technical field of expertise(Electrical Distribution, Energy Automation, AVEVA)
  • Telecommunication and Networks technical skills at design level
  • Hands-on experience in Electrical Monitoring and Control Systems, particularly in the Nuclear segment, including system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical architectures and automation platforms in high-reliability environments.
  • Past technical experience in a specific segment Nuclear and Defense or customers' application is a plus (customer process, usage, ...)
  • Proven ability to lead with agility functional and remote technical teamhaving different fields of expertise
  • Able to communicate in concise and synthetic manner complex technical issues/topics
  • Able to take decisionsin complex context based on imperfect/missing conditions
  • Ability to understand and produce engineering documentation
  • Self-organized and goal-oriented person
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines
  • Ability to work and collaborate in team environment
  • Ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly
  • Ability to build risks analysis
  • Able to travel 40% of the time internationally
