Systems Architect Expert
For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $128,480 - $192,720 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric has a Systems Architect Expert (SAE) position available now (also known as Application Engineer). The sole goal of this position is to assist SE sales and our partner sales teams in a technical "pre-sales" capacity to help sell more automation solutions to our customers. The US SAE team is composed of highly trained, highly capable engineers that know and are seen as experts regarding our factory floor automation solutions. Their expertise is focused on our PLC's, VFD's, HMI, SCADA and Analytic solutions.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for new automation technology, be commercially savvy and can speak about automation solution in a group setting. Knowledge of AVEVA software (Wonderware/ System Platform etc.) is a plus. Knowledge of PLC/PAC is important.

What will you do?
Industrial Automation expert with the strong ability to build optimized automation architectures and solutions fitting the needs of the customer including channel partners such as System Integrators.
Underlying this ability is a broad technical knowledge of:
- Automation technology
- Networks like Principles, connectivity, limitations, and performance
- Hardware & Software systems like PLC, HMI, SCADA and VFD technology
- Industry Business installed base offer: migration from and interconnection with the Industry Business legacy offer.
Solid commercial aptitude which allows the SAE:
- Technical backbone of the salesperson, understand the customer and their business.
- To propose optimum architectures according to the customer's needs by providing a clear explanation to the strengths and weaknesses of a particular solution. By communicating the differentiating elements in a simple and convincing way.
- Ability to be a part of a team and belong to the SAE community where we can learn from or teach others.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Provide front and back-office pre-sales automation technical support for the sales organization
- Be a part of a team. The role of the SAE is to be the technical arm of the sales team. To support the sales team regarding the technical aspect of the opportunity including job walk throughs, scope and potential BOM's.
- Visit customers with the SE sales teams, channel partners (Distribution) or proactively on your own.
- Assist and support End Users, System Integrators and Consulting Engineers on our automation solutions for their project opportunities.
- Introduce and promote the complete Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Architectures.
- Build demos to help the customer visualize the main solution concepts (proof of concept)
- Be the main technical customer interface for system and solutions.
- Provide expert support: assist/lead the system & architecture definition with the customer and create value by advising the customer on advanced issues (Principles, feasibility, limits & constraints, performance, ...)
- Provide recommendations & support in terms of migration from or interconnectivity with the Industry Business Legacy offer.
- Answer deep technical questions on integration/compatibility of components inside an architecture
- Help to close the deal by providing differentiating elements to sales for the commercial argumentation. Explain the technical advantages and disadvantages of the proposed architecture(s). (Value Proposition).
- Work closely with other SAEs and PAEs locally and within the global community to provide the customer with the best solution.
- Obtain detailed requirements and constraints from the customer, assist the customer in defining the best implementation (validate, optimize and differentiate) of the selected system architectures.
- Select the most appropriate architectures and hardware to meet the customers' requirements. Adjust and optimize the architecture(s) most appropriately to meet the customers' needs. (Develop Scope)
- Provide "Job Walks" for solution opportunities.
- Actively contribute to a global network of system and architecture experts as part of the global SAE Program like sharing Success Stories and/or best practices, supporting cross country opportunities
- and monthly webinar participation & Input
Travel - While this position will support a local region and regionalized salespeople, there are times when an SAE will be asked to support and opportunity nationally roughly up to 30%.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- 5+ years of experience with PLC's, VFD's, HMI, SCADA and Analytic solutions with knowledge of AVEVA software.
- Be able to build optimized automation architectures and solutions to fit the needs of the customer including channel partners such as System Integrators.
