Sustainable Software Design Leader

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for the role of Sustainable Software Design Lead.

Primary Function:

Energy Management is Schneider Electric's largest business (6 business divisions representing >80% Schneider's revenue) , focusing on driving Sustainability and Digital transformation across homes, buildings, data centers and infrastructure. As the Sustainable Software Design Lead in Energy Management, you will have a unique & exciting opportunity to help Schneider and its customers achieve our climate and other environmental sustainability ambitions. You will be expected to collaborate strongly with different businesses to help Schneider define and achieve the strategic priorities that will enable us to meet our sustainability commitments related to how we develop our software to minimize its environmental impacts - both where that software is part of hardware offers, and where it is sold as a stand-alone product to the customer. The role reports directly to the Sustainability Leader in Energy Management's Software and Services Division.

Job Location: Hub location: Franklin, Boston, Grenoble, Dubai or Paris preferred

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $185,000 - $222,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees, inclusive of medical (with member reward points), dental, vision, and basic life insurance, Benefit Bucks (credits to apply towards your benefits) flexible work arrangements, paid family leaves, 401(k) + match, well-being and recognition (including

Main Responsibilities include:

  1. Work closely with business division and corporate sustainability teams to shape and deploy a new framework for sustainable software design, as part of Schneider's 2030 targets
  2. Build and manage the cross-functional program required to support these strategic objectives, including defining, testing, and refining requirements; deploying those requirements with product teams; engaging and aligning stakeholders; ensuring resourcing is assigned to manage execution; developing resources; and establishing the governance, accountability, and process integration required to deliver results
  3. Support the design features for AI-augmented or AI-native improvements of software solutions, in relation to decarbonization and efficiency improvements for customers
  4. Support businesses with ideas, thought leadership, and strategies to improve the sustainability of their software design
  5. Drive implementation of other related activities as needed, including regular reporting & communication

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental management, business, or engineering
  • 10+ years of total work experience, including at least 2 years managing sustainability programs at a large organization
  • Strong subject-matter expertise on issues related to sustainability and software, including GHG emissions, lifecycle environmental impacts, software design, the environmental impacts of software and AI
  • Understanding of energy management and distribution technologies and solutions
  • Experience with product design, development, offers, and marketing, as well as employee engagement and training
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to screen and quickly absorb information on various topics from multiple sources and synthesize it to make meaningful recommendations; resilient and solutions-oriented in the face of incomplete or inconsistent information
  • Able to translate and communicate effectively between expert and non-expert audiences
  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority across functional teams is critical
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management and facilitation skills; able to set clear guidance and project plans, and effectively hold teams accountable to project deliverables, partnering to find solutions where needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills:
    • Collaborative and a team player
    • Driven but balanced; thoughtful and passionate about success of the collective team
    • Open-minded, active listener, understands and values others' views
    • Ability to connect with people, build teams and networks, and communicate effectively with different stakeholders to bring alignment and support
    • Able to liaise effectively with counterparts from different parts of the organization, including senior executives
  • International, multicultural mind-set and approach
  • Driven self-starter with ability to execute in a fast-paced & constantly evolving global environment
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative and open to travel as needed
  • Other: excellent MS PowerPoint and Excel skills; experience in project management tools a plus
