Structural Senior Engineer II, Mechanical Systems Design

Mission

With a permanent position working for Schneider Electric Regional Support Platform (R S P) Bratislava, Structural Senior Engineer II, Mechanical Systems Design :

  • Provides technical complex and strategic designs to customer projects & services teams, by having strong technical knowledge and knowhow .
  • Helps customers to define their needs and supports SE teams with arbitrating technical choices related to his/her application domain.
  • Audits & troubleshoots technical issues (remote and on-site) related to his/her application domain.
  • Provides coaching, training to DAT3-4-5 as well as to another project team members.
  • Supervises technically a team of Application Design Engineers (less than 50% of his/her time) and may have some other team key responsibilities.
  • Manages relationship with internal partners and subcontractors related to his/her application domain.
  • Watches technology, competition, standards & market trends related to his/her application domain.
  • Defines and provide commercial argumentation to project teams or management, and identifies & report potential technical risks.
  • May represent SE in external bodies (standardization, professional associations...) at local/national level.


Scope and Environment
  • Works both in autonomy and in teamwork , with contribution to optimize and secure project or service teams' technical solution designs.
  • Works mainly for internal project and service technical teams (i.e. for DPT, DQT, DCT job family codes) along all the customer installation lifecycle, but possibly contributes to the SE Anticipation, or R&D activities, with direct interaction with external stakeholders/customers related to his/her application domain.
  • Have a key participation on Tendering Stage helping Tendering team to propose the most optimized solution


Key Activities and Responsibilities

Customer and/or Partner relationships:

Drives interactions with customer on technical topics, either directly or through assigned DAT4-5 colleagues. Understands customer specifications and needs related to his/her application domain and translate/explain them to other project members; challenges those requirements versus SE available solutions & capabilities; identifies missing characteristics inside SE offer to feed future R&D roadmaps as well as explains to customer reasons behind SE technical deviations (using references to standards & regulations).

Internal & External Exposure:
Influences and challenges internal project teams on the technical choices related to his/her application domain and ensures convergence of the project team and leaders towards the best solution; delivers and presents results and argumentations (technical reports, presentations, etc ) - including those from his/her driven resources - to the project team. Participates in technical working groups (internal & external) related to his/her application domain, and in paper publications and reviews and other technical communication initiatives.

Project and Risk Management:

Has a good background of Project Management so that he/she is aware of the Cost/Quality targets related to his/her work, with a specific emphasis on time management & scheduling; analyzes, challenges, alerts in case of any deviations from the standard scope of work related to his/her application domain; issues regular progress reports to the project team; detects, raises and validates technical variation order opportunities related to his/her application domain; contributes in project technical risk assessment meetings.

In his/her application domain, drives parallel technical activities to ensure optimum convergence in the global solution to be delivered.

Technical knowledge and Engineering:
Related to his/her application domain, applies engineering best practices and challenges those existing ones in a continuous improvement mindset; has strong knowledge of the product & system offers (internal & external) related to his/her application domain; has specific technical & application skills related to his/her application domain; carries out detailed complex engineering work and provides associated reporting for project team members & leaders; masters and uses the methods & tools related to his/her application domain ; is able to design / optimize Skids / E-house design from initial (principal architecture) phase until manufacturing details level . I s eligible to the Edison Program certification in his/her application domain .

Training and coaching:
Exchange and shares his/her knowledge to his peers in the projects & services environment; gathers feedback from other engineers and managers; participates in (or defines the goals of) training modules about his/her technical application domain

Requirements

Education - Master's degree in mechanical or Civil or Structural Engineering.

Languages
  • English language fluent mandatory (min B2 / C1 level )
  • Other languages as French and/or Spanish and/or German and/or Russian are a plus.


Experience
  • 10 years of experience in relevant area
  • 10 years working experience on Structural design including but not limited to: Design of Structural frame, Analysis of Static and dynamic loads, Integration with Steel envelope, Design of fixation, Clah study, Lifting Study, Transport 3D FEM analysis, anchoring detailing, single and or multiple storey E-house building design
  • 10 years working in one or several engineering application domains targeted by Schneider : Electrical Substation, Electrical transmission, Oil and Gas Onshore and Offshore, Nuclear Plants, Solar Photovoltaics Application, Wind farms applications, datacenter .
  • Experience in any competitor range of equipment (ABB, SIEMENS, etc.) is an advantage
  • Confirmed experience supervising team of Structural Engineers

  • Flexibility & Reliability, Focus on technical details & Customer focus, Team player , Goal Keeper
  • Ability to communicate (written, verbal) in clear manner on technical issues/topics.
  • Ability to work and cooperate in international and inter-cultural environment
  • Software tools literacy: MS Office, Acrobat
  • Intermediate or advanced SCIA Software is an advantage


Other Requirements
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% in EMEAS Region
  • Driving License B
  • Potential to work on a long time base abroad mission 6 to 12 months (Optional)

For this Slovakia based position, the expected pay range is EUR 45.000 - EUR 64.000 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives (individual and/or collective). The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within Slovakia. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level.
