Strategic Communications Manager

Schneider Electric has a new opening for a Strategic Communications Manager based in Foxborough, Andover, or Boston, MA or Nashville, TN.

A North America role, the Strategic Communications Manager is responsible for deploying communication initiatives both internally and externally as well as cultivating a community of key targeted industry media outlets to position the Company's Secure Power and Services divisions' key priorities and offers favorably amongst influencers and customers. The communications manager is a progressive role, working closely with the regional marketing strategy team and regional executive leaders. The successful candidate will work to sustain and enhance the company's ranking and reputation with key media outlets, drive a concentrated and strategic thought leadership program, and engage employees through successful planning, relationship building and communication.

Reporting to the VP Brand & Communications for North America, this role works closely with the VP Marketing of NAM Secure Power & Services, multiple leadership teams, and the global Brand & Communications team.

Major responsibilities include:

Communications Planning

  • Work with regional strategic marketing team to provide external communications guidance in annual marketing plans and develop supporting materials in alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Develop communication plans in support of division priorities as well as track and measure success
  • Oversee agency relationship and drive continuous improvement in operational excellence between in-house and third-party resourcing.
  • Develop holistic communications activations and annual plans, inclusive of media, thought leadership, employee communications, and public affairs.

External Communications
  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and internal teams.
  • Serve as a primary contact with Schneider subject matter experts and broader Brand & Communications team
  • Develop calendar & strategy for thought leadership programs, communications, and engagements
  • Act as a liaison between transversal Brand & Communications initiatives, localizing and activating Company stories within Secure Power & Services
  • Plan, schedule, and manage influencer/media program activities such as participation conferences, advisory days, briefings, inquiries, and reporting
  • Schedule briefings, inquiries, demos and advisory days with key influencers
  • Prioritize and manage incoming requests for information, research support, research review, customer references, and event speakers
  • Analyze and synthesize findings from reports, relaying content back into business partners
  • Manage and own all press releases & related communications to ensure best practices, align messaging and brand standard adherence.
  • Facilitate process alignment with key stakeholders to ensure visibility and collaboration around press initiatives.
  • Build and maintain editorial calendars leveraging tools and systems of record (e.g., coschedule).
  • Train and/or facilitate training program for people representing Schneider Electric in public forums including speaking engagements and press interviews.
  • Prepare briefing materials and prep spokespeople for interviews; respond to written media requests and gain approval from spokespeople.
  • Provide advisory support for regionally, and country-led, press initiatives including press tours and conferences.
  • Participate in workgroups around company initiatives to drive best-in-class media relations activity at company events e.g., Innovation Summits.
  • Participate and contribute to internal online community of communications practitioners including global campaign owners, regional strategic marketing managers, and PR specialists to share best practices, supporting materials, measure results.
  • Track results and provide actionable guidance using internal brand measurement tools.
  • Drive regular cadence with NAM Marketing leaders to ensure strategy communication is clear.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
  • Work with various leaders across the organization to define public relations and thought leadership priorities and offer strategic guidance to execute in line with company practices
  • Interface with Global Secure Power & Services Communications teams and Global Marketing Media Relations team and contribute as key representative for Thought Leadership activation
  • Foster environment for best practice sharing and continuous learning for thought leadership community
  • Measure impact of activities across programs to drive maximum impact in alignment to defined program objectives


Skills and experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, or related discipline
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Communications and/or Marketing in large companies
  • 3+ years working in a matrixed organization
  • Excellent communicator with experience implementing and advising on communication strategy in support of thought leadership and business objectives
  • Proven experience in public relations and external positioning, including earned and owned media coverage.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Understanding of relevant market trends, technical products, and solutions
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $142,400 - $213,600 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees, inclusive of medical (with member reward points), dental, vision, and basic life insurance, Benefit Bucks (credits to apply towards your benefits) flexible work arrangements, paid family leaves, 401(k) + match, well-being and recognition (including service anniversary) programs, 12 holidays per year, 15 days of paid time off per year (pro-rated in the first year of employment based on start date), opportunity to purchase company stock (eligibility depends on start date), and military leave benefits.
