Sr Systems Service Engineer

Join Schneider Electric's Process Automation Services team and play a key role in supporting mission-critical industrial control systems across a diverse customer base. As a Senior Systems Service Engineer, you will provide expert technical support, commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, cybersecurity implementation, and lifecycle services for Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and related industrial automation technologies.

This position requires a highly motivated professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with customers, and delivering innovative solutions that improve system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

Travel Requirements: Travel up to 75% within the southeast region of GA, FL, TN, NC and SC. Residence within the service territory is preferred.

What will you do?

Customer Service & Technical Support

  • Provide onsite and remote support for industrial automation and control systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, networking, and process control issues.
  • Maintain customer systems with software updates, patches, quick fixes, and hardware upgrades.
  • Deliver detailed service reports and technical documentation.
  • Support emergency service requests when required.


Engineering & Project Execution
  • Configure, commission, and optimize DCS, PLC, HMI, and SIS systems.
  • Support control system migrations, modernization projects, and technology upgrades.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Analyze system performance and conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues.
  • Review project specifications, control narratives, P&IDs, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop upgrade plans and technical recommendations for customers.


Commercial & Team Support
  • Support sales and account teams with technical guidance and customer consultations.
  • Participate in proposal reviews and project planning activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and customer teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and field service personnel.


Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Implement industrial cybersecurity best practices for control system environments.
  • Follow Schneider Electric safety, quality, and service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and contractual obligations.
  • System Platform / Wonderware
  • Other major DCS platforms including Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, ABB, or Yokogawa

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Process Control, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, process control, or control systems engineering.
  • Experience supporting, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
    • PLCs and HMI platforms
    • Industrial networking
    • Process instrumentation
    • OPC communications
    • Control strategies and process automation

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 101,600 - USD 152,400 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
