What will you do:
- Lead end-to-end procurement activities across diverse categories, from supplier identification to contract management
- Negotiate pricing and terms for both direct and indirect operations, ensuring optimal value for the organization
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring and evaluating their performance
- Execute strategic sourcing initiatives and implement best practices in procurement processes
- Manage complex contract administration and ensure compliance with organizational policies
🔑 Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Lead end‑to‑end procurement of mechanical components (sheet metal parts, castings, machined parts, plastic parts, enclosures, fabricated items, etc.).
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers aligned with Schneider Electric's global standards.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to optimize cost, lead time, and supply continuity.
- Conduct commercial negotiations, contract management, and long‑term supplier agreements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (engineering, quality, manufacturing, planning) to fulfill procurement needs.

- Drive localization projects for imported mechanical components to strengthen regional supply chain and reduce dependency.
- Identify capable local suppliers and manage their technical, operational, and financial evaluation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for component redesign or re‑engineering to support localization.
- Facilitate Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement programs (cost, quality, delivery, sustainability).
- Deliver annual cost reduction targets through negotiation, localization, VA/VE, and alternate sourcing.
- Conduct cost breakdown analysis and support should‑cost modeling.
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks by qualifying multiple sources and ensuring supplier redundancy.
- Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
- Ensure suppliers meet Schneider Electric quality norms, certifications, and sustainability requirements.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) for audits, PPAP, FAI, corrective actions, and continuous improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Schneider Electric's environmental, CSR, and ethical sourcing policies.
- Ensure strong alignment with R&D, Industrialization, Project Management, and Global Category teams.
- Support new product development (NPD) and new product introduction (NPI) projects by ensuring timely sourcing and supplier readiness.
- Participate in project reviews, technical evaluations, and supplier meetings.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 4-10 years of experience in mechanical sourcing, procurement, or supplier development-preferably in electrical, manufacturing, or industrial products.
- Experience with localization initiatives and supplier development in India or global regions.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, manufacturing processes (machining, casting, fabrication, plastics, sheet metal).
- Knowledge of procurement tools, SAP/ERP systems, and cost modeling.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, and quality assessment processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
- Project management and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Ability to work in a global, matrixed environment.
