Software/Firmware Quality Leader

Mission Ensures that the offers are safe, secure, robust, and reliable to reach the satisfaction of the customers. By accompanying R&D to apply Software Quality best practices, ensuring measured progress is being made towards Shift Left and DevSecOps.

Organization structure

This position reports to the VP-Customer Satisfaction and Quality for Secure Power.

Main responsibilities

• Organizes/Manage the SW Quality function for the Secure Power business (includes SW quality planning, quality measurements, and customer perspective)

• Advises the team and management regarding quality matters to achieve best in class customer experience and satisfaction

• Evaluates current offers, processes, and tools and drive continuous improvements

• In collaboration with a network of experts including but not limited to Research & Development (R&D) and Quality Leaders

o Strengthen / Enforce the SW development process from a quality perspective

o Deploy the SW Quality Fundamentals to all offers within the Line of Business (LoB)

o Identify, develop and deploy innovative design practices to strengthen robust SW and FW design, tackling the full customer experience, to avoid bug creation and strengthen bug detection

o Drive the change from feature centric to test centric development mindset and practices

o Establish metrics and dashboards, tracking progress to ensure teams are delivering high quality SW and FW

o Work with SW and Systems Architects to ensure testing, logging, and debugging methods are included in SW/Systems Architecture

o Ensure teams are performing technical risk assessments and systematic root cause analysis of ideally all issues

o Drive resolution and corrective action of open customer issues

• Bring consistency and coaching in quality methods and tools in project development, develop expertise in all functions involved on SW development & validation (R&D, marketing, and quality teams) especially to Product Owners and Scrum Masters

• Embrace digital and AI tools and technologies to automate as much as possible

• Close the loop between field data and actions for development teams to improve overall offer quality

Personal Competencies

• Innovative, analytical approach to solving complex problems and performing troubleshooting

• Capable of understanding and documenting incidents. Effectively manage incident information and status information to improve product and process.

• Experience with complex Software Systems (communication networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud applications, Mobile applications, Desktop applications, etc.) and digital savvy

• Knowledge of Networking and Network troubleshooting

• Understand how to break down systems and debugging to find root cause

• Excellent knowledge of QA methodology and Software development processes (Agile Scrum, RUP, IEEE, Safe, SDL, etc.)

SOFT SKILLS

• Ability to manage a network, leading operational transformations, across a worldwide organization

• Strong ability to work in fast-paced environment and ability to multitask with ease is essential to the success of this position

• Strong communication with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and to promote effective teamwork

• Ability to inspire and motivate, strong leadership and organizational skills

• Passionate of continuous learning and improvement, seeking opportunities to expand his/her knowledge and skills

• Having a customer-centric mindset and focusing on delivering value to end-users in a pragmatic way

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify areas for improvement as well as digital first mindset

• Curious, open minded, persistent, rigorous, and pragmatic

  • Qualifications and experiences

    • Education in computer science, software engineering or equivalent

    • 15+ years' experience in software/firmware development and software quality assurance.

    • Past experiences as Product Owner and Scrum Master is a plus

    • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, software architecture, peer reviews, testing techniques, qualimetry (code analysis), and quality assurance processes

    • Experience / adaptability in using tools such as automation frameworks, configuration management tools, qualimetry (code analysis) tools, test management tools, and defect tracking systems

    • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies

    • Experience managing change in complex SW Systems

    • Experience implementing SW best practices
