Senior Quality Engineer

Management of the Company Integrated Management System and audit programme lead in both internal / external ISO and product-specific audits.

You will also be required to play a key role in ensuring product / process issues are promptly investigated and adequate corrective / preventive actions implemented, e.g. customer complaints, out of specification components, etc.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet the quality standards required, to minimise quality costs and maximise customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to.

Work on multiple phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of high complexity, with results impacting on project completion. Work reviewed at project milestones and / or upon completion by Management.

Work under minimal supervision with cross functional project teams to resolve complex quality problems which may have significant impact to the business, e.g. product failures, production downtime, cost saving initiatives, external certification.

The successful candidate will participate in both the design and manufacturing process to ensure that all products represent the maximum quality and reliability attainable.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Company Integrated Management System to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
  • External Audits; host regular assessments for the maintenance of the current ISO 9001:2015 certification and various product-specific certification schemes.
  • Internal Audits; lead the programme of periodic audits of system & process for the purpose of assuring continued conformance to the Integrated Management System requirements. Facilitate the annual audit plan and manage allocation of the existing audit team to complete agreed objectives.
  • Monthly / weekly reporting of Quality related KPI's, providing effective communication of PPM levels & rejections to improve overall performance levels.
  • Nonconformance Management (Internal / External). Support / lead 8D activities. Perform analysis and identify trends in nonconformances and work within a cross-functional team environment to achieve effective root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Maintain retention adherence of quality records to the requirements of the Integrated Management System.
  • New Product Introduction - Provide active involvement in all aspects of product design, process development & validation to support the launch of new products.

Education & Qualifications:
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor qualification desirable.
  • HND standard or above in Quality and / or Production engineering disciplines.
  • MS Office skills - strong Excel an advantage.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or CI qualification an advantage.

Knowledgeable:
  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • Awareness of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 an advantage.
  • Quality / Six Sigma tools: PFMEA, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis (5Y's / 8D).
  • Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems, including an awareness of overall behavioural standards and compliance in the workplace.

Experience:
  • Relevant experience in a similar role within a high-volume production environment.
  • Experience of electronics, assembly and moulding processes an advantage.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of electronic / SMART (internet connected) products an advantage.
  • Proven track record of delivering robust permanent corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence of quality issues.
