Senior Product Owner - EV Charging

As an EV Charger Product Owner, you are responsible for defining, developing, launching, and managing residential and light commercial EV charging solutions throughout their lifecycle. You serve as the voice of the customer, translating market needs, customer feedback, installer requirements, utility expectations, and business objectives into product requirements and roadmap priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Business Ownership

  • Develop and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and portfolio strategy for EV charging solutions.
  • Build and obtain approval for business cases, including market sizing, revenue projections, profitability analysis, and investment justification.
  • Align product strategy with company growth objectives, customer needs, utility requirements, and electrification trends.
  • Define product positioning, target customer segments, and value propositions.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, competitive offerings, technology evolution, and regulatory changes.

Market & Customer Requirements Management
  • Capture and maintain market requirements within product management systems.
  • Lead Voice of Customer ( VoC ) activities with homeowners, installers, utilities, fleet operators, channel partners, and sales teams.
  • Translate market requirements into approved product requirements and user stories.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking of EV chargers, software platforms, energy management capabilities, and ecosystem offerings.
  • Review requirements implementation and validate alignment with intended customer outcomes.

Hardware & Software Product Development
  • Define functional and non-functional requirements for EV charging hardware and connected software experiences.

  • Partner with engineering and software teams to prioritize features and backlog items.
  • Define Minimum Viable Product (MVP) scope and release priorities.

Cost & Commercial Management
  • Own target product cost and margin objectives.
  • Monitor BOM cost evolution throughout product development.
  • Perform feature-versus-cost tradeoff analysis and prioritize investments accordingly.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Finance teams to establish cost targets and business profitability.
  • Develop pricing strategies across retail, channel, project, and strategic account segments.
  • Monitor competitive pricing and market dynamics before and after launch.

Field Trials & Validation
  • Define field trial objectives, scope, and success criteria.
  • Assess product readiness for pilot and field deployment.
  • Lead issue triage reviews with engineering and field teams.
  • Evaluate field performance data and customer feedback to drive product improvements.
  • Ensure readiness for commercial launch through successful pilot validation.

Product Launch & Go-to-Market
  • Define launch priorities and feature readiness criteria.
    • Review launch readiness and open issue status prior to release.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering , Product Management, Business, Marketing, or a related technical discipline.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Experience
  • 5+ years of product management or product ownership experience.
  • Experience with EV charging, energy management, electrical distribution, renewable energy, storage, grid services, or related industries.
  • Proven experience launching hardware-enabled connected products.
  • Experience managing cross-functional product development programs.
