About the role
As Senior Legal Counsel for Portugal, you will become a key strategic partner for Schneider Electric's operations across the Iberian region, supporting complex commercial activities, public tenders, and international business operations.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and regional legal stakeholders, providing practical, business-oriented legal advice while helping Schneider Electric continue driving innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence across the region.

What will you do?
- Lead and support legal activities related to domestic and international commercial operations, bids, and projects across the region
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including supply agreements, procurement contracts, licensing agreements, NDAs, distribution agreements, and software-related contracts
- Provide legal support and strategic guidance in public tendering procedures with Portuguese public entities
- Collaborate closely with the Regional Legal Team and business stakeholders to ensure aligned and efficient legal support
- Operate as a trusted business partner, helping teams identify risks while facilitating business-oriented solutions
- Support contract negotiations and provide practical legal recommendations to internal stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain contract templates, terms & conditions, and legal documentation
- Monitor contractual compliance and improve legal processes and governance standards
- Work cross-functionally with finance, tax, treasury, insurance, procurement, and commercial teams
- Support local implementation of transversal legal initiatives within the zone
- Maintain contractual records, status reports, and legal documentation updates
- Provide additional legal support and guidance as required by Legal Management
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Bachelor's Degree or Specialist Degree in Law
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial contract review and negotiation, ideally within an international in-house environment
- Previous experience in Construction, Energy, Renewables, Industrial or similar sectors will be highly valued
- Strong experience managing public tender procedures with Portuguese public entities
- Native Portuguese speaker
- Fluent English
- Spanish is a plus
- Commercial mindset with strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary environments
- Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented profile
