Senior Engineer I, Electromechanics / Mechanical Design

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead design engineering for the development of Power Quality League Passive offer for Low Voltage (LV) Power Factor Correction (PFC) equipment. The role focuses on delivering solutions that meet customer-specific technical requirements, cost targets, and evolving market needs, while ensuring compliance with global standards such as IEC and UL.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Low Voltage (LV) Power Factor Correction (PFC) equipment, switchboards, and other related power distribution products.
• Create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD tools such as Creo (4.0/6.0), SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
• Perform engineering analysis and feasibility studies on design concepts using sound engineering principles, including material strength, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanism evaluation.
• Utilize knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling, particularly in sheet metal and plastic component design, to ensure manufacturability.
• Drive product development through all Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) stages, including design, development, testing, validation, documentation, and manufacturing readiness.
• Conduct Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA) and Design-to-Cost (DTC) analyses to optimize product cost, quality, and manufacturability; propose alternative materials and manufacturing methods where necessary.
• Define and execute product qualification, certification, and reliability testing requirements.
• Lead the prototype development process, including design, build, and testing activities.
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve design and performance issues.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, sourcing, finance, marketing, and vendors) to define requirements, validate designs, and support product industrialization and launch.
• Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation, including engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications, and design guidelines in the PLM tool - Windchill

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical specialization preferred) with 7 to 10 years of work experience in the electromechanics design domain
• Strong exposure to design and development, quality processes, value engineering, and cost analysis of electrical distribution products, particularly Low Voltage switchboards
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, including moulding, casting, assembly techniques, and associated tooling
• Hands-on experience with CAD/CAE tools such as Pro/E (Creo) and as GD&T Practitioner, tolerance stack-up analysis
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts and collaborate across team
• Ability to define clear goals, prioritize tasks, and drive execution in a structured manner
