Position: Sr. Engineer I - Electromechanical Design
Job Description:
An electromechanical expert to lead the design, development , test , support and interface with cross functional teams for the development of new offers or evolution of existing offers. Our product line includ es U ninterrupted P ower S upply , rack power distribution units , rack automatic transfer switches.
Key responsibilities
- Development of product options and collaborate with cross functional teams in the refinement of Marketing o ffer r equirements.
- Design, Develop the conceptual & detailed product model s . 3D component, assembly creation, 2D drawing creation using GD&T, BOM creation and development of other specifications.
- Analyze regulatory compliance and quantify safety risks , propose mitigations using FMEA and FTA.
- Assist Project management team with schedule, effort and resource require ments .
- Interact with Global Supply Chain to produce pre-pilot and pilot builds. Work with vendors to g enerat e prototypes for functional test s .
- Prepare, execute and document v erification and validation test plans including test method and acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to packaging, user documentation, safety labels and product markings.
- Document intellectual property and contribute novel ideas for patent applications.
- Direct tasks of mechanical designers, technicians, and other resources. Ability to present and communicate clearly project summaries to internal stakeholders.
- Perform First Article Inspection and p art quality approvals based on form, fit, function.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) .
8 to 15 years of hands on experience in design, develop ment and test ing of Elec t romechanical products such as Inverters, Drives, Servers , network switches etc .
Practical k nowledge in design ing assemblies using sh eet metal, mounting PCBA's, cable harnesses , electrical contacts/terminals/receptacles, springs, fasteners is m andatory .
Experience in 3D CAD modeling & drafting using Creo (sheetmetal, cable) , ECAD/MCAD Integration .
Tolerance stack - up analysis and knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning, Tolerancing and Engineering Drawing Practices.
Hands-on experience in product lifecycle management (PLM/PDM) tools such as Windchill or equivalent, including BOM management, Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Engineering Change Notices (ECN), revision control, configuration management, and product data release processes.
- Working knowledge of reliability and qualification testing, including vibration, shock, seismic, thermal cycling, ingress protection (IP), HALT/HASS, transportation, and environmental testing.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Procurement , Quality, Regulatory Compliance, and Supplier s throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Experience with regulatory compliance, IEC/ UL/CSA/NEMA standards, National Electric Code etc.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC, thermal impact would be an advantage.
- Hands-on experience in d esign of sustainable packaging used for electronic equipment.
- Experience and use of simulation tools for finite element analysis and thermal simulation is desired .
