Senior Application Engineer - Design

What will you do?
- Create engineering design and drawing sets for power monitoring and control systems
- Consult with internal & external stakeholders to determine system operation requirements
- Assist in the design of electrical control panels
- Specify and procure hardware/software as required by project
- Occasional need for project start-up services, troubleshooting and training for commissioned systems
- Occasional need for Programming of PLC applications and HMI interfaces
Travel up to 15% to customer sites occasionally required. The majority of travel is domestic with occasional international opportunities.
This position may sometimes require presence at customer sites; therefore, candidate must be able to obtain necessary clearance to comply with customer requirements for executing work on their site. The types of credentials that might be required include but are not limited to Homeland Security clearance, background and credit checks, etc.
Requirements:
- BS in electrical engineering
- Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware
- Working knowledge of industry standard communication protocols such as ModbusTCP and/or BacNet.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a group setting, team oriented, self-motivated, and results driven
- Travel up to 15% to customer sites may be required
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with industry standard communication protocols such as Modbus, ModbusTCP, and BacNet
- Experience with integrating devices from multiple vendors into packaged solution. (system integration)
- Experience with low and medium voltage switchgear
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience is not required but is a plus
- HMI configuration experience not required but beneficial, including graphical screen development
- Experience in the field of emergency power generation and distribution, including switchgear control applications and generator control applications
- Knowledgeable in computer programming languages (VB, C#, C++, Java script), database design (SQL), HTML development.
