Due to continued growth in the Schneider Electric UK & Ireland Digital Energy team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Solutions Purchasing Specialist to support our end‑to‑end solutions procurement activities across tendering and project delivery. This role focuses on subcontracting and third‑party materials, governance, cost control, supplier performance, and risk management. It is well suited to someone looking to develop their career in procurement, and thrives in a project‑based, multi‑stakeholder environment.

Role Overview:

The Solutions Purchaser will manage the procurement lifecycle for large, complex tenders and projects, working closely with sales, tendering, operations, commercial, legal, finance, and our supply chain partners to deliver competitive, compliant, and profitable project delivery.

You will contribute to supplier performance management, analytical reporting, cost optimisation, governance compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

Tendering & Sales

  • Lead third ‑ party materials and subcontracting scope for large, complex tenders, including RFQ processes and multi ‑ bid evaluations, and ensuring compliance with Schneider's governance and procurement policies
  • Engage suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, lead times, risk inputs, and commercial terms
  • Analyse, benchmark, and challenge purchasing costs to protect margin and maximise value
  • Log, track, and report productivity at both tender and execution stages

Project Delivery & Governance:
  • Oversee projects during execution by managing procurement-related activities and approvals in line with the DOA
  • Lead and agree subcontract and supplier contract terms and conditions, with appropriate stakeholder support
  • Conduct risk assessments on all large or high ‑ risk purchases
  • Manage subcontractor RFIs and PQQs, support pre ‑ start meetings, and assist with issue resolution and change management throughout project delivery

Supplier & Subcontractor Management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier onboarding, vetting, auditing and compliance activities
  • Manage supplier qualifications, documentation, and quality requirements
  • Lead and manage Supplier Performance Scoring, KPI creation, and ongoing performance reviews
  • Support framework agreements and strategic supplier initiatives

Governance, Compliance & Data Management
  • Drive procurement compliance across projects and supply chain activities
  • Maintain and update SAP vendor data and Supplier Management databases
  • Manage analytical data, providing spend, productivity, KPI, and performance insights
  • Update management reporting tools with procurement, supplier, and risk data
  • Lead or support internal purchasing projects, initiatives, and process improvements

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships across sales, operations, commercial, finance, legal, and our supply chain partners
  • Lead internal meetings and provide data ‑ driven insights to support business objectives

Experience & Skills
  • Purchasing experience within project ‑ based or solutions ‑ led environments (preferred)
  • Experience in managing large BMS or electrical installation tenders from design stage (preferred)
  • Subcontractor experience, ideally within construction, electrical, or mechanical sectors (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, compliance, risk management, and contracts
  • Proven ability to implement or improve processes and support organisational change
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and stakeholder management capability
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively in cross‑functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proactive, self ‑ aware learner with proven business acumen to support strategic and operational decision-making
