Project Development Sales Engineer - Microgrid Controls
For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $101,600 - $152,400 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Job Description
The Microgrid Controls Project Development Sales Engineer is responsible for leading customer‑facing technical engagements related to microgrid controls, automation, and system integration. This role qualifies sales opportunities, shapes technically and commercially viable solutions, defines appropriate sales strategies, and coordinates internal technical resources to support successful deal execution through Schneider Electric and partner channels.
This position serves as the technical authority for microgrid controls during the project development phase, ensuring solutions align with customer use cases, Schneider Electric platforms, and execution capabilities.
What do you do in this position?
- Act as the lead for customer‑facing technical engagements, serving as the primary technical interface throughout the sales and project development lifecycle
- Qualify sales opportunities by:
- Identifying the customer's stage gate and level of project maturity
- Understanding customer use cases and aligning applicable microgrid controls and automation solutions
- Determining go / no‑go pursuit recommendations based on technical fit, commercial viability, and strategic alignment
- Define controls‑centric microgrid solutions leveraging an advanced understanding of microgrid control system programming and specific platform capabilities
- Coordinate and provide technical oversight of solutions architects and contributing engineering resources supporting opportunity development
- Utilize project estimating tools to develop solutions
- Demonstrate estimating and financial competency, supporting development of scope assumptions, and cost estimate review and calibration
- Determine the appropriate commercial path and sales strategy, including direct, partner‑led, or hybrid engagement models
- Develop and deliver solution proposals for internal Schneider Electric sales teams and the external partner channel
- Utilize and maintain opportunity and pipeline data with proficiency in Salesforce CRM, ensuring compliance with Schneider Electric sales processes

Technical & Industry Expertise
- Strong understanding of microgrid controls, automation systems, EMS, and system integration
- Advanced knowledge of microgrid control system programming, functional behavior, and operational modes
- Experience integrating DER technologies including generation, storage, protection, and communications
Commercial & Strategic Skills
- Ability to qualify opportunities, assess risk, and make sound pursuit recommendations
- Estimating and financial acumen related to controls scope and integration effort
- Capability to align technical solutions with commercial strategy and customer value drivers
Leadership & Collaboration
- Proven ability to lead customer technical engagements with confidence and credibility
- Experience coordinating and guiding technical resources across sales and engineering teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
Tools & Process
- Working proficiency with CRM‑driven sales processes
- Comfortable operating within structured sales governance and approval frameworks
