Product Application Specialist (Pre-Sales) - Digital Power

The Role:

We are looking for a talented professional to take on the role of Product Application Specialist - Digital Power. In this role, you will be the go-to technical expert, driving pre-sales excellence by shaping customer solutions, influencing specifications, and delivering innovative Digital Power systems that power business growth and customer success.

What will you do?

  • Act as the technical and application expert for Digital Power Solutions during pre-sales and selected post-sales engagements, driving technical specification, homologation, and pipeline development for Protection Relays, Power Metering, Power Quality, Energy Management Systems, and related Digital Power offers.
  • Lead homologation, product approvals, and compliance alignment activities for Protection Relays and Digital Power solutions with utility end users, consultants, and relevant authorities, supporting market access and business growth.
  • Drive technical specification influence and early project engagement in collaboration with front-end sales teams across key market segments, improving opportunity quality, conversion rates, and competitive positioning.
  • Develop technical proposals, solution architectures, application designs, design justifications, and tender clarifications in collaboration with Application Center, solution architects, and/or services teams to deliver integrated, scalable, and competitive Digital Power solutions.
  • Serve as the interface between local market requirements and Line of Business (LoB), translating customer needs into actionable inputs while aligning with product capabilities, roadmap, and market priorities.
  • Expand and strengthen the Digital Power ecosystem, including end users, consultants, contractors, panel builders, system integrators, and key industry stakeholders through technical engagement and value-based solution positioning.
  • Deliver technical presentations, workshops, training programs, and customer engagement activities to enhance market awareness, build competencies, and support business development initiatives.
  • Provide advanced technical support (L2) to internal and external stakeholders, supporting solution deployment, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex technical issues when required.
  • Support opportunity qualification, pre-sales strategy development, and technical win strategies to maximize conversion and business growth.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality technical engagement throughout opportunity pursuit, proposal development, and project award phases.
  • Collaborate proactively across functions to resolve customer technical challenges, including site visits when necessary, ensuring strong customer confidence and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Adopt and deploy Global and East Asia Digital Energy value propositions, adapting them to Malaysia market requirements and customer applications.

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 5-8 years of relevant experience in protection relay solutions and control relay panels.
  • Strong expertise in protection relays and electrical distribution systems; experience in digital power solutions is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in technical pre-sales, specification influence, tendering, and solution design.
  • Good understanding of homologation processes, applicable standards, and compliance requirements, particularly with utilities and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into practical, fit-for-purpose technical solutions.
  • Experience engaging with utilities, consultants, contractors, and end-users, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to conduct technical workshops and deliver compelling proposals.
  • Capable of providing advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex applications.
  • Customer-focused, with strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel; familiarity with the Malaysia market is an advantage.
