PLC Programming intern

Schneider Electric is looking to hire a PLC Programming Intern for Spring 2026 in our Raleigh, NC location.

Schneider Electric- Center of Excellent team works with the latest technologies while supporting the development of innovative solutions for our clients. You will assist in designing, implementing, and configuring automation systems, as well as contributing to custom software or system development. Our teams support customers both onsite and from our offices across North America. As an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience with new and exciting technologies that help improve our clients' sustainability, efficiency, profitability, and overall success.

One of the latest technologies Schneider Electric offers is EcoStruxure Automation Expert, a next-generation, software-centric automation platform. It provides flexible, modular, and vendor-agnostic control solutions designed to support digital transformation across industries. As part of this role, you will be working with EcoStruxure Automation Expert on a daily basis, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge automation tools and modern engineering workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop control applications using EcoStruxure Automation Expert platform
  • Create and test automation logic for demo projects and customer applications
  • Build reusable function blocks and automation libraries
  • Support integration testing with distributed controllers
  • Document programming standards and technical specifications
  • Assist in customer support projects and technical demonstrations

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's program (Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or Computer Science)
  • PLC programming knowledge and experience.
  • Understanding of industrial automation and control concepts
  • Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 and IEC 61499 standards.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Working on-site five days a week, Monday through Friday.
