To ensure the high performance and reliability our customers expect, we are expanding our Microgrid test engineering capabilities in Andover.

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $147,000 - $167,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees, inclusive of medical (with member reward

About the Role

As a Microgrid System Test Engineer , you will validate real‑world microgrid scenarios end‑to‑end across EMS, PMS, DERs (batteries, PV, gensets), and grid interfaces. Working in our state‑of‑the‑art Microgrid Lab, you will test control algorithms, system behavior, and customer use cases to deliver safe, robust, and high‑quality solutions.

This role sits at the intersection of power systems , automation , software , and cloud technologies - ideal for someone passionate about the future of distributed energy.

âś… What You Will Do

System & Scenario Testing
  • Test and validate end‑user scenarios of Schneider Electric's Microgrid solutions across EMS/EMA and PMS/EMO platforms using real devices, simulators, like OPAL RT or Speed Goat.
  • Work closely with Global R&D to analyze issues, reproduce behaviors, and ensure high‑quality releases.
  • Perform functional, performance, interoperability, and regression testing of microgrid systems.

Test Planning & Automation
  • Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on product requirements.
  • Automate test scenarios using the Microgrid Lab (PLC/IPC controllers, HIL systems, DER emulators).
  • Maintain test automation scripts and contribute to continuous improvement of test frameworks.

Lab Operations
  • Configure and operate microgrid test benches: PLCs, inverters, BESS simulators, protection devices, SCADA/HMI, communication networks.
  • Support internal and customer lab visits, demonstrations, and technical workshops.

Partner & Project Support
  • Train and support Schneider Electric partners delivering Configure‑To‑Order (CTO) microgrids.
  • Participate in pilots, commissioning support actions, and advanced troubleshooting when needed.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Daily interactions with:
  • Global R&D teams
  • Execution & commissioning teams
  • Tendering & solution architecture teams
  • Strategic technology partners


🎓 Education & Background
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering , Computer Science , Energy Systems , or related field.


đź§° Key Skills & Experience

Technical Skills
  • Experience in industrial automation (Schneider Electric PLCs, IPCs) and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (Modbus and HTTPS, MQTT, IEC 61850 DNP 3 is a plus).
  • Experience with 3‑phase electrical systems and/or site commissioning.
  • Understanding of microgrid concepts (BESS, PV, generators, islanding, grid‑forming vs grid‑following).
  • Experience using real time simulators like Speed Goat or OPAL RT
  • Hands‑on experience with scripting / object‑oriented programming.
