The Senior ABAP Programmer & Security Lead is a key technical expert within the Digital Finance Layer (DFL). This role combines deep ABAP development expertise - including modern S/4HANA capabilities - with security leadership responsibilities across custom code, integrations, and SAP transport governance.
The position owns the design, development, optimization, and security of SAP custom developments within DFL, ensuring stability, performance, and alignment with Schneider Electric cyber and governance standards.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience across SAP migrations, upgrades, and go lives, with strong hands-on expertise in the S/4HANA Finance domain.
What will you do?
ABAP Development & Technical Leadership
• Lead complex ABAP development initiatives using ABAP 7.5 and Object-Oriented ABAP.
• Design and implement enhancements, interfaces, and custom applications using:
o ALV Reports
o Batch Input / BDC
o User-exits / Enhancements Framework
o IDoc interfaces
o ABAP Classes & OO Frameworks
o OData services
o CDS Views (nice to have)
• Perform advanced performance optimization for ECC and S/4HANA.
• Produce high-quality technical specifications, conduct code reviews, and enforce reusable development patterns.

Fiori Operations
• Manage Fiori catalogs and groups.
• Oversee Fiori app transports across landscapes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Fiori runtime issues and integration defects.

SLT (SAP Landscape Transformation)
• Monitor SLT replications.
• Perform incident handling and root cause analysis.
• Execute bug fixing and technical correction.
• Stop/reactivate SLT replications during maintenance windows.
• Provide month-end, year-end, and annual rollover support.
• Continuously improve rules, transformations, and replication logic.
• Execute Initial Load (IL) and Real-Time Replication (RTR).
• Analyze and resolve end-to-end SLT incidents.
• Provide integral SLT management (Gateway & Syniti), including:
o Filtering
o Operational troubleshooting
o Trigger maintenance

SAP S/4HANA Expertise
• Build and optimize developments aligned with S/4HANA programming models and HANA database principles.
• Provide technical support and integration expertise across FI and SD domains.
• Lead simplification assessments, custom code adaptation, and readiness activities for S/4 transitions.

Migration, Upgrade & Go Live Activities
• Participate in end-to-end migration/upgrade/go live cycles (cutover, validation, hyper-care).
• Preferably complete at least one S/4HANA upgrade or ECC S/4HANA migration.
• Validate and adapt custom code during SUM, SPAU/SPDD, and S/4 compatibility checks.

Security Lead Responsibilities
• Serve as Security Lead for DFL technical components, aligned with IAM, Cybersecurity, and SAP governance.
• Review and validate:
o Transport security & segregation of duties
o OData/API exposure controls
o ABAP code vulnerabilities (authorization checks, input validation, secure coding standards)
• Advise on secure application of SAP Notes, patches, and remediations.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on MFA enforcement, bot/service accounts, and technical account policies.

SAP Transport & Maintenance
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of SAP transport concepts: domains, routes, CTS, retrofit.
• Apply SAP Notes, kernel notes, and correction instructions safely across environments.
• Ensure documentation and compliance with Schneider Digital change management processes.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
Education
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Work Experience
• +6 years of ABAP development experience.
• Strong proficiency in:
o ABAP 7.5 & OO ABAP
o ALV, Batch Input/BDC, User-exits
o IDocs, Classes, OData
o Performance tuning (SQL trace, SAT, ATC, SCI)
• Experience in S/4HANA environment (custom code adaptation, CDS, AMDP, HANA basics).
• Solid understanding of FI and SD technical integration.
• Proven experience in SAP Notes application and transport management.
• Track record across multiple migrations/upgrades/go lives.

• End-to-end experience in S/4 upgrades or ECC S/4 migrations (RISE or GROW).
• Experience with Jira, Xray, gCTS, abapGit, ATC pipelines.

• Ownership mindset suited to a Crown Jewel system (DFL).

• Multi-country or global work experience is a plus.
• Fluent English (written & spoken).
• Strong prioritization and cross-functional coordination.
