Lead BMS Engineer

Mission :

The role is a customer facing role based on Large New Build Systems Projects. The role requires self discipline in planning, managing, engineering and delivering project objectives including leading others through dotted line relationships.

The role will be supported by a Project Manager but will require close working with the wider New Build Systems team. The role provides the opportunity to have responsibility, develop quickly and the opportunity to progress.

Responsibilties:

  • Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and project managers to understand project objectives and provide technical expertise during the pre-sales and bidding processes.
  • Responsible for: Review and developing project documentation, including functional specifications, technical drawings, and control narratives.
  • Lead the project team in creating detailed engineering designs, including control strategies, network architecture, and equipment selection, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. This may include managing input from Subcontractors.
  • Responsible for: Developing I/O Schedules, Design Operations/Description Operation, Control Panel Design Approval, Plant Schematics
  • Work with the Engineering Tools and Process Manager within New Build System to utilise GDT and GEC in developing the detailed design and delivering the BMS Solution.
  • Software and Graphics creation development, m anaging and controlling the change process and make sure this is captured in the design schedules, schematics, drawings and other documentation.
  • Lead the Schneider team on site in delivering the solution and be the technical stakeholder on the Project for Schneider Electric Ltd.
  • Lead the project team in configuring and programming BMS controllers, sensors, and devices to enable seamless integration and functionality. Use of both Script and Function Block.
  • Manage the coordination of Subcontractors on site. Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to verify proper operation and performance and be responsible for recording, keeping and compiling documentation.
  • Co-ordinate and lead any Customer site training and handover of Operating Manuals and Procedures.
  • Work with the Project Manager and Commercial/Contract Manager to administer the Project and Subcontractors.
  • Act as the Supervisor/Site Manager for Schneider works including Subcontract works on site including Health & Safety and ensuring the delivery team and subcontractors prioritise safety first and works in the safest of environments and takes responsibility for their own and others safety.
  • Use QMS documentation and tolls to control standards, proactively identify skills and knowledge gaps to ensure Schneider safety level is maintained.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing BMS projects.
  • Proficiency in BMS software platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure Building Operation, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys) and associated programming languages (e.g., BACnet, LonWorks).
  • Preference for experience with Schneider products and EcoStruxure, although not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, and building automation protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required with potential lodge away.
  • UK Driving Licence

Education:

  • HND/HNC Building Services, Engineering or
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related M&E, Building Services, Electronics background or
  • Vocational Qualification and industry training and experience
  • Electrical Qualifications desirable but not essential
  • SSSTS and ability to hold CSCS Gold Card Site Supervisor (This may require NVQ Level 4)
