Industry & Process Automation Business Development Manager - Design Firm/Specifiers

Mission:

Schneider Electric's UK & Ireland Industry & Process Automation is on a rapid and ambitious growth trajectory, automating and digitalizing every industry and business driving efficiency and sustainability for all.

The Industry & Process Automation Business Development Manager is accountable for driving top‑down specifications for Schneider Electric's Industrial Automation (IA) portfolio by influencing design firms and specifiers at Concept/FEED and Detailed Design stages as well as strengthen specification quality and increase hit rate across priority segments.

The role requires a subject‑matter expert across Industrial Automation offers (e.g., PLC/DCS, Variable Speed Drives, HMIs/SCADA, etc) and end‑to‑end architectures to improve specification quality and increase Schneider Electric's market penetration in the Industry Automation market.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage a width‑of‑wallet IA pipeline across targeted design firms; influence specifications early to lock preferred architectures and products.
  • Platform design firms by segment (e.g., WWW, CPG, MMM, Transportation, Buildings, etc) and align pursuits to investment trends and internal capability.
  • Drive narratives around Power & Process convergence, Cybersecure‑by‑design, digital continuity, and open/interoperable systems.
  • Act as subject‑matter expert across IA offers (e.g., PLC/DCS, Variable Speed Drives, HMIs/SCADA, etc) and end‑to‑end architectures
  • Deliver CPD ready sessions and other relevant content to build preference towards Schneider Electric's offers & architectures
  • Build joint account plans with V1 Design Firm Sales and leverage internal Segment, Channel and Specialist Sales teams as well as partners to scale prescription capability.

Skills & Experience:
  • Customer first mindset.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling and influencing skills
  • Organised, attentive to detail, resourceful and tenacious, self‑driven with a consultative selling mindset.
  • Strong background in Automation & Control with the ability to translate requirements into robust, compliant specifications with domain expertise in PLC/DCS, Variable Speed Drives, HMIs/SCADA, etc
  • Salesforce (bFO) Proficiency
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Automation, Electrical/Control, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Evidenced experience with strong exposure to B2B sales experience influencing design firms/consultants and working in/with presales or system architect roles is advantageous.
