Indirect Procurement - Japan Sourcing Manager

About the role:

As the Country Indirect Procurement Leader for Japan, this role is responsible of all Indirect Procurement (IP) spend across multiple categories including Logistics, Real Estate, ICT, Travel, Professional Services, Marketing Communications etc. You will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups and business support functions to develop and implement procurement strategies to drive productivity, innovation, performance whilst ensuring compliance with Key Internal Controls and policies.

What will you do?

  • Purchasing Performance
    • Partner with stakeholders and relevant cross functional teams to create and implement procurement strategies that are cost effective, innovative and sustainable to support business goals and growth.
    • Perform purchasing activities including but not limited to supplier sourcing, execute RFI, RFx, commercial and contract negotiation, supplier evaluation and recommendation of award in compliance with key internal controls and governance policies.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to propel Schneider Electric as a leader in ESG initiatives.
    • Support and execute plans on procurement transformation and digital adoption.
    • Continuous improvement on productivity, supplier's payment term, catalogue adoption and green procurement.
    • Track and report KPI performance accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Proactively share strategy, supplier base and best practices with regional and global category teams.
    • Identify opportunities and execute initiatives to enhance process simplification and standardisation.

  • Build and strengthen engagement with Country Leadership Team and key stakeholders to align procurement support with business' needs.
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day support to stakeholder groups on procurement related activities.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to educate and enhance stakeholders' awareness of procurement process, tools and policies.
  • Supplier Management
    • Develop, manage and maintain supplier base including the preferred suppliers' list.
    • Evaluate and analyse business needs for supplier mapping.
    • Build strategic relationships and manage supplier performance for key suppliers through stakeholder feedback, tracking of performance-based metrics and strategic business reviews.
    • Leverage global/ regional suppliers to drive spend aggregation and to identify opportunities and implement strategies for supplier base optimisation.
    • Support supplier audits and follow up to close out audit actions.

  • What skills and capabilities will make you successful?
    • Excellent communication, strong cross functional collaboration, interpersonal skills and project management skills.
    • Experience in engaging senior leadership.
    • Strong analytical skills demonstrated in performing bid analysis, spend data, fair-value analysis and scenario modelling.
    • Ability to navigate through ambiguity.
    • Complex problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
    • Experience in team management is highly preferred.

    What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
    • Bachelor's degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain/ Business Administration/Finance/ Management.
    • 10+ years of professional experience with 6+ years of procurement/ strategic sourcing experience preferably in indirect procurement.
