The Opportunity
The HSE Operations Lead role will provide dedicated functional HSE oversight and resourcing solutions for Global Customer Projects, Services Operations and other International Operations teams on the ground in key locations across the Pacific Zone.
The HSE Operations Lead will be accountable for leading a team including HSE Advisors, Specialists and Leads and providing strategic advice and support to enable HSE requirements for all Pacific One Solution activities, and on-site HSE Presence for Projects and Services during execution. The role will also lead HSE Assurance and Governance programs over both internal and external workforce, and coordinate Emergency and Incident Management across all off-site operations.
The HSE Operations Lead reports to the Pacific HS Director, and will oversee the resourcing, performance and development of HSE Advisors and HSE Leads and Specialists in the Pacific HSE Operations Team. The HSE Operations Lead will partner closely with the Pacific One Solutions Lead, Global Customer Projects and Service Operations Directors and their Delivery Teams and Supply Chain Solutions to implement key HSE controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
Specific objectives and responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the Pacific HS Director and other members of the HSE team, design, develop and implement HSE processes and responsibilities to ensure the effective identification, assessment and control of HSE risks across all Global Customer Projects and Service Operations activities delivered in the Pacific Zone Implement HSE templates, processes and systems necessary for HSE dedicated Advisor Support on Projects in accordance with Schneider, customer, builder and legal and other requirements
- Proactively monitor and anticipate Global Customer pipeline to inform temporary HSE resource scheduling of Project HSE Advisors, and work directly with partners to source and onboard new HSE Advisors as required
- Effectively manage the performance and development of HSE Advisors, both permanent and temporary, providing support across Global Customer Projects and Services
- Oversee and ensure compliance to Incident Management requirements for incidents and near misses that occur on Customer sites (this includes specific requirements for internal and external notifications and escalations)
- Where required, lead Major Investigations (Medical Incident or HiPo Safety Near Miss) that occur on Customer sites (this includes the preparation of reports and Incident Communications for internal and external stakeholders)
- Working closely with other members of the HSE team, support and enable effective HSE risk management across activities undertaken by both internal and external workforce on customer sites
- Participate in audits related to HSE requirements that Schneider is subject to, including but not limited to ISO Certification audits for 45001 (Health and Safety)
- Support the deployment of Global Schneider or Pacific wide HSE initiatives and processes across Global Customer Projects and Services Operations as required
- Represent Pacific on relevant Schneider Global Customer Projects and Services forums, meetings and initiatives, and ensure that Global and Regional reporting requirements for HSE are met.
This role requires regular interstate travel, including travel to New Zealand, and regular visits to Customer sites. Flexibility to work from home is afforded, however the role is full time and five days a week.
About You
You will have 10-15 years of experience in a similar role in a Construction or Services environment in Australia or in a Pacific Zone role including New Zealand . You will possess an excellent understanding of HSE Management System implementation and record keeping, ensuring legal compliance and that internal and external stakeholder needs are effectively managed.
This experience will be supported by tertiary qualifications in HSE Management or equivalent together with advanced commercial acumen, contractor and customer relationship management and proven track record in resource management, including utilisation.
