Role Overview - General Manager, Applications

The General Manager - Applications will lead application delivery, modernization, engineering excellence, and operational stability across Schneider Digital's global technology landscape. This role combines digital transformation , SDLC leadership , team management , stakeholder engagement , test automation & monitoring strategy , and run excellence to deliver business outcomes at scale.

This is a senior, cross-functional leadership role driving consistency, speed, quality, and reliability across multiple portfolios.

  1. Digital Transformation & Execution
  • Drive high-impact digital transformation initiatives across application and platform portfolios.
  • Translate business and technology priorities into structured execution roadmaps , measurable OKRs, and outcome-driven delivery models.

  • Identify and scale best practices across Digital Technology Centers (DTCs) to improve delivery agility, predictability, and quality.


  1. End-to-End SDLC Leadership & Delivery Excellence
  • Strengthen SDLC governance across requirements, design, build, testing, release, and run.
  • Improve delivery outcomes through enhanced planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, and operational readiness.
  • Establish standard engineering playbooks, templates, coding practices, review mechanisms, and release frameworks.


  1. Team Leadership & Capability Building
  • Lead, mentor, and grow multi-disciplinary global teams across engineering, testing, automation, monitoring, and operations.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, psychological safety, collaboration, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
  • Enable career growth through structured development plans, upskilling, and capability building aligned to modern application engineering.


  1. Stakeholder Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with business, architecture, infrastructure, and operations leaders to ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate across internal teams and vendors to drive accountability, transparency, and shared success.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and mitigations through crisp, data-driven updates.


  1. Test Automation, Quality Engineering & Monitoring


Test Automation Strategy & Governance
  • Define and scale an enterprise-wide test automation strategy across ERP, BOB, web, mobile, and integration applications, aligned with the Test Automation CoE .
  • Govern and mature key automation frameworks including Cucumber, Playwright, TOSCA, Python, AI driven automation

Lifecycle Automation & E2E Regression
  • Strengthen structured test automation processes-planning, scenario decomposition, componentization, execution, and maintenance.
  • Expand end-to-end automated flows across major ERP programs
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation and faster release cycles.

Performance Engineering
  • Lead adoption of performance testing frameworks, including AI-powered, keyword-driven testing models with real-time dashboards.


  1. Application Monitoring, Observability & Run Excellence
  • Build and scale a modern observability strategy using APM and monitoring platforms (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana).
  • Establish standards for:
  • synthetic monitoring
  • log analytics
  • transaction tracing
  • alerting
  • performance baselining
  • Improve MTTR, RCA maturity, and system resilience through proactive monitoring and structured operational governance.


  1. Continuous Improvement & Metrics-Driven Performance
  • Define and drive KPIs for predictability, throughput, automation coverage, application stability, incident reduction, and customer experience.
  • Drive process and engineering improvements that reduce rework, accelerate releases, and enhance quality.
  • Scale automation, standardization, reusability, and platform-level capabilities across DTCs.


Qualifications

Experience
  • 8 - 10 years of leadership experience across application delivery, SDLC execution, engineering, or digital transformation in complex global environments.
  • Strong background in test automation, observability, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience managing multi-location, multi-vendor delivery ecosystems.
